I have been trying to do a French with my Minx leftovers. I usually encase the whole thing with either gel and uv top coat or just uv topcoat. (Either OPI Axxium or Brisa) After a couple of days the acrylic seems to chip or lift on the actual Minx part. Any ideas on how I can prolong the French? I'd like to eventually offer it but just can't figure out how to extend the wear. Does anyone have any pointers?

Minx was not designed to be incased or overlayed with another product. It has such a beautiful shinny finish, which looks fab - but anything you lay down on top of it will most likely peel/lift/separate.

There are many Geeks who have created some amazing looks in the way you describe - how long they lasted after the photo was taken we can't be sure ...hopefully they can step in here and tell us? ;)

While experimenting with Minx for embedded nail art is great for you and your friends, I'd be weary of offering this kind of service to paying clients - simply because you can not guarantee the longevity of the service, leading to lots of repaires and grumpy clients.

Sorry if this wasn't the answer you were hoping for! I love Minx so much, it's such a big hit in my Salon, but keeping it simple has been the key to making good business out of it.

Good Luck! :)

Thanks for your reply. I know what you mean. I love Minx too - it's bringing me lots of new clients that want the "shrinky-dink nails":D They often comment on my nails as I tend to wear them as french with the left overs. But I have to redo them quite frequently as the gel tends to start peeling after a couple of days. Some of my clients would like them as they feel a whole Minx on their fingers is too much for them. Oh well can't make everyone happy.
