My fiancé has had a really bad arm / shoulder. He phoned the doctors after several days of it not shifting. They told him it was strain from work even though he suggested could it be a frozen shoulder (as he's diabetic he's more likely to get it) they said no. And suggested physio.

On Friday I came home from a night out and he was in so much pain, the worse it's been. I suggest hospital in the morning to the out-of-hours. He went (which I know it must of been bad as he doesn't go to the hospital if he doesn't have too.)

He went and they disagreed with the previous doctor and said it was a frozen shoulder after all...he's been signed off for a week and not aloud to drive.

He's in SO much pain, it horrible to see him like this.

He's taken pain killers (co codimal and ibrobrufin ) however you spell um lol. He's tried hot baths. Frozen sprays...still in agony.

Has anyone had this before? Knows what might help ??? Desperate...

And he's desperate to get back to work as he doesn't get sick pay and were saving for a mortgage...HELP NEEDED.

Hi, I sympathise, mine lasted 6 weeks, no movement excruciating pain, I was on diazepam and tramadol and co-codamol and still only slept for max two hours because of the pain,my dr fast tracked physio and it was only after starting physio did it ease off , it's us unbelievably painful if he can see a physio they will give him exercises to do xx ps ice packs tended to help xx

I've had this in both shoulders repetitive strain / frozen shoulder I did go to the Physo and dont use heat always cold it will just take time to heal, the muscles have been torn and you can rush the healing process

Diclofenic is a really good painkiller for muscular and joint pain you can buy it over the chemist counter as Volterol tablets. You can also get a rub on.
I'd also advise seeing a good recommended osteopath.

Acupuncture ... magical.

Thank you so much, I'll pass on about the different pain killers. He's tried a cold spray-but I'll def tell him about the ice/frozen stuff to put on. He's got to go to the doctors again tomorrow to fill in some forms about going to physio so hopefully the ball is rolling in the right direction.

((Fingers cross everything will kick in and he'll start to feel better))

Thanks again will keep you all updated xxx

He should maybe go to a private Physo whilst he is wanting for the nhs :)

Oh jeez hope the waiting list isn't too long. Thanks Hun, I'll find out how long the wait is and suggest it too him. Anything to get him back to normal...I didn't realise how painful it was until he had it! Xxx

I'm type 1 diabetic and had this last year. My GP referred me to Physio and they referred me to a specialist at hospital. The specialist told me Physio is not the best option especially due to being diabetic. I had manipulation as a day surgery case. I was really lucky as the muscle block meant I didn't feel any of the manipulation so I didn't have to go under anaesthetic as first thought. Best thing I ever did. Fully recovered now xx

Yeah he is too (type 1) hopefully they will do the same for him...((fingers crossed))

Thank you that makes me feel hopeful that things will get better for him. Xx
