Does anyone have any more information on funding for courses? I tried ILA, but that is only available to some training schools. I have heard about local government funding but have no idea where to look for any of this. Thanks to all who help.

Hi

DO you know if your area is in an 'objective one' funding area? objective one, is classed as an area in need of the highest level of european funding. I live in such an area and the welsh assembly have a funding programme in place designed for people who have been made redundant.

I dont know what the scottish equivilent to the welsh assembly is, but maybe you could start there?

Some girls I went to college with got their course (Level 2 Beauty) funded by college as they had no prior Level 2 qualifications, some were unemployed or on benefits and didn't have to pay. Best bet is to ring up local college and ask, they usually have a finance office.

Some girls also got a grant towards their kit and uniform, if they met the required criteria.

Hi thanks for replies. It's not college I'm hoping to go to (well I am but thanks for an evening class for waxing). I tried callling the local council who said to call the jobcentre to no avail. May call Scottish government, is that welsh assembly equivalent?

How do you find out if you are in objective 1 area in Wales? I am currrenly on a fixed term contract which finishes in October so i'm hoping to get some funding to up skill!! Thanks.
