Gel/acrylic training courses near Huddersfield

I am wanting to do a nail enhancement course & have been advised gel nails are better than acrylic - can anyone confirm this? Also does anyone know of anywhere near Huddersfield that do gel nail courses? I've been looking at CND as they have raving reviews, but as I work part time I'm wondering if they do payment by instalments. I've also been told about Picasso's in Wakefield, but am not sure what brand of products they use. To be honest there are soooo many brands out there it gets very confusing.
Any info, personal experience or advice are gratefully appreciated.
