hi i normally do acrylic but done gel conversion some time ago i do toes fine so thought i do my mums finger nais with gel followed all prep etc and they looked lovely didnt get a nice c as you do with acrylic but thought i done ok only few days later my mum said some were breaking at the tips only she said there is no lifting just breaking at tip any ideas where i went wrong by the way i used nsi gel thanks guys xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx :) :)

you MUST build up the apex. using gel on fingernails is not the same process as on toes.
toes do not need the strength of an apex but it is vital on fingernails particularly if you are extending them with a tip.

tips snapping off is a classic sign of an inadequate apex.

Gel is about 20% weaker in strenght than acrylic so maybe building up a slightly thicker nail would fix it. And the proper build up of stress area is also important. I use NSI Balance Builder gel and their Elation tips. Great stuff. Never broke any even thou I do them pretty thin and do house work on regular basis. I'm sure you've heard of them and if not here is the address Home - Nail Systems International (UK)
