Hello everyone,

I am just starting a Gel nail course and need some advice about kits and UV lamps. I have just bought a kit but think I may have done the wrong thing. I have seen a kit in Argos, the make is RIO and I think it looks pretty good but I am not sure about the name or quality. The good thing about this kit is that it comes with a lamp, it is about £80. The one I have bought doesn't and now I need to buy a lamp.

I would really appreciate any advice that you can give. Or any recommendations of lamps I should look at.

Many thanks

Hi hun,

have you bought the rio one yet? if not i strongly recommend against it! Rio is an argos make that anyone can buy - this is never agood sign! professinal products should only be able to be bought by professionals! and if you want to produce professional quality nail enhancements you are not going to produce them using there items. Ive always had an interest in nails and before i took my course - when i was 15 - which seems and eternity ago now i bought one and it was rubbish!

who are you doing your training with? Do they not advise which kit you should buy? most training companies i know of make you buy there kit to complete there courses so they know you are buying products of a decent, professional quality.

Hello,

If you are doing a professional nail course then the company or college will be able advise you on which system they recommend you buy. Unfortunately Rio is not a professional system and should not be used on general public.
If you fill in your profile with some more info then geeks can help you more.
You will need the correct lamp for the system that you choose to use!

I've got a Rio Lamp & it works okay with my EzFlow gels.

I've never used Rio products on a client but have used them on myself &
they aren't that great LOL. I would stick with the professional products.

But other than that, the lamp works wonders for me. HTH :)

Rio is not a professional product, and neither is the UV lamp they provide.
I can virtually guarantee you that your EZFlow gel isn't being 100% cured using the Rio lamp (even if it looks/feels fully cured), in which case you're putting your clients at risk of over-exposure as well as yourself.

Connerh: have a read of the following link, it will tell you some important things to remember re buying UV lamps.
