Gel polish question

Hi a few new clients have come recently and when I've done their nails they say " oh but they're really thin... Can you add extra layers to make them thicker!"
Not sure what they mean! When you look down the barrel of the nail they are thin - no real difference from looking at a nail without gel on! But that's how it should be!
One lady showed me a pic of her old nails ... And they were much much thicker... Have tried a layer of structure gel plus normal application but this doesn't really make any difference.
I use Gelish and Cnd shellac.
Any thoughts?

Why would they want them thicker. Surely the point is beautiful natural looking nails that last? Confused.com

Is it possible that they think they are getting gel that is used for extensions, but in a colour?

If they have always had Gel polish, they would know what to expect. x

Sounds like they were getting gel overlays before
