Hair extensions nightmare, difficult client

Hi I am a mobile hair extension specialist and have been doing so for over 3 years, I have a small clientele and have never had any complaints, I also do another qualified hairdresser and hair extension specialist regularly who loves my work! yesterday I had a client (who I had never done before) contact me for an on the day appointment for russian hair, I explained that I don't normally do on the day appointments and I didn't have russian hair to hand I had to order it, she asked me what I did have and i explained i had brazilian hair in her colour. (she sent me a pic via email) and i said to her I could fit her in if she came to me as she lives well out of the area that i cover and she could come in the evening, she arrived over 45 mins late and when she arrived her hair looked nothing like the pictures and was a very blunt cut and seriously the thickest hair i've ever seen in my life. I tried my best and attached 200 1g strands as thats all I had, it didn't blend at all and i was so ashamed! I explained to her that she could come back tomorrow and I would add more hair free of charge but she would just have to pay for the hair. she left well after 11.30pm and was happy to come back for me to add more hair, as she agreed her hair is so thick and it was a last minute appointment without a face to face consultation (which i will never make the mistake of doing again) now she is bombarding me with rude messages demanding that i go to her house to do the hair which is miles away and we agreed she would come back tomorrow. she is telling me I am not good at my job and should advertise for women to be bald so i can make them look nice, she is demanding i NEED to see her today or sunday and that i am pushing her buttons, she is also accusing me of not putting 200 when i clearly had! I've explained nicely to her several times that i will sort it for her tomorrow if she comes back to me but she is being utterly rude. i just feel so disheartened and feel like giving up hair. i have so many customers booked in over the following weeks and feel like i won't be good enough for them also. its so stressful when you try your best to be as polite and offer a great service and you get someone being so rude.
 
Aw I wouldn't let it get to you:( from what you have said it's honestly not your fault. But Iam the same i take it to heart if someone complains even if I know it's not my fault.
What I do if i ever feel abit not right about something I make them sign something before I start fitting so in this case I would of wrote something like 'because there was no consultation I understand these problems may happen eg colour match, amount of hair not being spot on'' etc and get them to sign it. But like you said always better to just do a consultation.

Is there a reason why she has changed her mind about coming back round for you to fix it? As that's what you agreed? I would say to her she agreed to come back round and you add more hair X

I did say that to her but she replied with that I NEEd to come to her, she just basically switched on me. Her messages are on the verge of harassment to be honest and all my replies say is i will fix it for you if you come tomorrow as agreed but she is just going off on one!

have you tried speaking to her on the phone instead? Only problem is if it gets left like this she can say it's your work with how it looks now:/ even though you haven't finished it obviously

I know i just feel so upset, after her rude messages i just sent her one last message saying I will sort this for you tomorrow but I cannot make it to you, please call me to discuss further but she sent me another message saying that I'm pushing her buttons and that she feels ripped off. amongst other things too long to type on here lol I've offered to fix it and she knew the situation when she was here and when she left and of course i want to make my clients happy and give them the best service i possibly could thats why I'm offering to fix it even though we'd arranged for her to come back anyway x

I've had this problem in the past , i know it doesn't help but that's why I only do face to face consultations I get a feel for the client and I get them to sign for me to do anything that isn't straight forward , I don't think shel be happy at this point no matter what you do for her , she sounds really rude , I'd just reiterate in a email a conclusion she's unhappy with your service your sorry for the cross communication and then re offer your terms but bullet point them make it clear your willing to refit the others at a free fitting rate , I ended up giving a full refund but I never made the mistake twice x

She's being incredibly rude and you don't have to put up with it. Do not give in to her demands. You have given her the viable options and she's being difficult.

I'd just leave it as it is. You've given her the option to fix it and explained yesterday she would need to come to you and she agreed, not much else you can do.

Thank you its comforting to know this has happened to others and not just me! One of my friends who also does hair extensions told me to block her lol i know its not professional but if they are harassing you what can you do! its hard work what we do and can be so rewarding when you see the end result! I love my job but this has totally put me off lol…. I did tell her I can do it on this day and only if she comes to me. as she lives literally miles away and it was agreed she would come to me anyway! to be honest i'm hoping she doesn't turn up at my house or anything like that she seems unpredictable. I have definitely learnt my lesson

Don't let her knock your confidence honestly you just get people like that and unless you've got super thick skin it's hard to deal with , just keep being professional and polite , shel go away soon x
 
I would def ring her [emoji35] some people are all very brave behind text messages , but pick up the phone and the aren't so big and bad then ..
 
This reminds me of a client I had 2 weeks before Christmas. 200 bonds were needed for her super thick hair , she wouldn't listen , insisted 150 was enough loved her hair .. the next day she does want more in , I said she would have to cover cost of hair but i'l fit them for free as she'd had expensive hair & method.. I offered her an appointment within 24hrs & said she'd have to come to me though as I couldn't cancel other customers , she decided then to say she had to colour her Extentions as colour match was wrong & i should cover cost & fitting of new set as I was being un professional by not going to her. She hounded me all week , was vile to me but I stood my ground with her . I knew I'd done nothing wrong . she soon left me alone. Il go out my way to keep my clientele happy but I won't be mugged off by these women who want extentions , tans etc but won't pay what we all have to pay! & when the messages are vile & rude just block her , take no notice babe . Her hair you fitted is fine & no faults etc so whatever she wants done now has to be paid for ! good luck x
 
I love this forum im so glad I joined. I had a client like this before. I felt sick, every time I saw her name pop up on my phone I felt like crying. I couldn't even eat I was so annoyed! That was a few years ago but now I wouldn't let it annoy me, I would simply block her on my phone and facebook and she will go away. Do not let her get to you, you have done nothing wrong. You've learnt a lesson to never take photos as a match. This time in two weeks you will feel better about the whole thing. xxx

And any more hair fitted after that appointment date will have to be paid for. Then if she's not happy with that just block her. There's only so much you can do.

Thanks, I'm so glad too! everyones been so nice and how your describing how you felt is EXACTLY how i'm feeling! i know tonight I'll probably get another nasty message as she's at work right now lol!! Ive 100% learnt my lesson Thank you for your reply xxx

LOL I agree totally but I'm not calling her I did tell her to call me instead of texting and she got funny about that! I think she'd be too embarrassed to come to me to sort the hair out now anyway after the way she's spoken to me! she's not welcome x

she is threatening to go to the police about me now saying i do peoples hair and rip them off. xx
