A hair salon is facing legal action after a bride-to-be alleged she suffered chemical burns while undergoing a pre-wedding service.
Stephanie Davies-Crowley, 37, visited the Hair Studio just days before her wedding and claims the salon did not give her a patch test to check if she was allergic to hair dye.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, Davies-Crowley said the injuries were so severe she was transported from the salon directly to a London hospital to undergo treatment. As a result, the London-based office worker had to walk down the aisle wearing a wig.
The case is currently being handled and the salon denies the accusations.
The case comes in the wake of new statistics released by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), which the company’s chief executive Denise Kitchener labels "shocking". It repeated its call for proper regulation of the hairdressing industry after figures revealed that lawyers have dealt with 34 salons-related injury cases in London over the past twelve months. The total across the country is 338 in a year.
