Does anyone know if VTCT's have changed?

I took my Nail Treatments (Nail Technology) course in 2006 and I was interested in doing another. I found that another college were offering a Nail Treatments (Nail Technology) course for 8 weeks when I was on my course for 6 months!

I notice that Nail Treatments course is now manicure and pedicure but there are also other courses Nail Services and Nail Technology.

Depending on which college you look at they all seem to be doing slightly different things.

The course tutor told me I could not enrol because I did not have Nail Treatments and refused to believe that I had done anatomy and physiology and contra indications within my Nail Treatments (Nail Technology).

Does anyone know if not having the Nail Treatments qualification will affect validation of insurance?

wow, u have thrown me there, so what qualification do u have hunxxx

In the college I went to sept 2007 you had to do the nail treatments first before you could move onto the nail technology. The college in my area does a manicure course, manicure and pedicure course and gels, they have just stop doing acrylics. As for insurance I am not sure, the company I have my insurance with only insure you for the treatments you have regonised certificates for. Hope this helps. xxx

most insures will only ensure you for what you can demonstarate you have achieved, that would make sense. i am not clear on your question?

Most collages offer a varirty of courses many with diffrent governing bodies, they like to offer you as many as they can as collages do not get paid untill you have completed a course! The more you do mthe more pennies they get. When i 1 st came in to the industy i thought collage was the only way to go, i only wanted to do nails, at that time i had to do the full beauty thing. Gladly things have changed and more choices are available.

If you have one of the qualification, take your portfolio to the collage and provide your evidence of what you have done, surely that can not be argued with.

The course I did was Level 2 Nail Treatments (Nail Technology)

I did a private course manicure and pedicure and they accepted me onto the level 2 course after completing an assessment of my manicure skills. As the course was 6 months they said they would be covering anatmony etc (which I believe is covered in the new nail treatments manicure pedicure)

The new teacher refused as she said I did not have the nail treatments (manicure pedicure) by VTCT. Although I already had the level 2 Nail Treatments (Nail Technology) and wanted to do another nail technology course.

I was just wondering if not having the manicure/pedicure qualification will affect insurance as I wasn't planning on offering these services anyway.

hope this is a bit clearer, thanks all
