Hi, I'm looking for advice and to see if anyone recommends doing the HD brows course, I've read mixed reviews on here. I work in a salon and all my therapists have 5years+ experience, we all tint wax thread etc.
How different is HD brows compared to a normal brow service? We have had a lot of interest recently and there isn't many people in our area that do them.
From what I can see we do much the same apart from the pencil and highlight at the end, or is the training so good we'll see brow shaping in a different light? Also another therapist in a neighbouring salon said the tint used in Hd is rectoficil (spelt something like that) which we already use is this correct?
Advice would be much appreciated as I know the course is expensive
Thank you
Faye xx

this has been discussed time and time again so suggest you use the search button and read all the posts dedicated to this subject.

An excellent one on here has about 10 pages of comments and makes excellent and balanced reading.

Happy searching.

Thank you, but most of the threads I can find are over 18months old, and mainly people complaining how expensive course is. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how this is going recently??
Thanks

I think it is ridiculously priced....£1000!

My friend has HD eyebrows done and pays £35 and says it's amaze!!

A lady I know said there bringing out a cheaper course whose company has jumped on to the band wagon, I mean you get what you pay for but I think companies are starting to catch on, I suppose like bio gels, gelish etc

The HD tint isn't Refectocil, I think it's Hairwell.

I personally use Refectocil and think it's one of the best around.

I think hd brows are a trend ... Like when minx first came out but like all trends we have to jump on them to keep clients happy and make money,
Alot of salons here are doing a 'defined brow treatment' or 'high definition brow makeover' basically there version of hd brows without using there branding or products or paying OTT training costs when we can all do these things already so why pay £1200 for it! Xxx

Thanks for comments, I'm still unsure what to do possible do our own version but had a lot of people ring this week asking for them, think as we are such a small town everyone wants the latest brand or item everyone else has

I tweeted Nilam last night asking her why, as a qualified and experience therapist, I would have to pay over a grand for training in thibgs im already qualified in, and what would they teach that was different to what I've already learnt over the years. I wasn't being rude just a genuine question. Her answer was basically that HD Brows are a brand and like any training you buy into that brand. If I was unsure I could register as a model at one of their training centres to see how it works and then decide from there

The only thing I've noticed is that there is no REAL shaping at all. Everyone's eyebrows look the blimmin same to me! I'm trying to get the hype but I think that's all it is, hype

xoxo

They look like they are drawn on with a magic marker to me.
I think this is gonna be just a trend. It didnt send my commercial antenna buzzing.

have to totally agree when you see people on tv with them done it looks ok but iv seen quite a few up close and as above said it looks like a marker pen and dont think theyl become anymore popular than they are just now x

I did my HD Brow course around 6 weeks ago. Def the best thing I've brought into the salon in a while!! I've been a therapist for 7 years and thought I knew all about tinting and waxing. I love HD Brows and so do my clients. I would thoroughly recommend it to everyone and not all brows look the same.
Hope this helps x

Thank you, has given me more to think about, think buying into the brand name is great for where we live but I can't imagine existing customers to pay double the price for HD compared to their normal shape and tint, I could stand corrected tho, I could do with maybe trying the treatment first to see what I think

I trained in HD Browsvp in March of this year, best thing I've ever done. I only specialised in Lash Extensions before, but HD Brows has made my business grow, I have had to expand from my home salon, to opening a shop premises and I have not looked back, getting busier by the week, with clients consistently re-booking every 3-6 weeks, and recommending friends and family. Once you've had HD Brows you won't go back, neither will your clients. The training you receive is fantastic, well worth the investment and HD products are lovely to work with, and clients love that they can purchase home care products to use in between appointments. If you are debating HD Brows training, I'd say go for it!!

For me a total waste of money! Didnt learn anything I didnt already know;

Tint, wax, thread, trim, draw in any missing bits, put some make up on.

I think a lot of you are missing the point. Yes, some of you will not learn anything new but you are buying into a brand, a very popular brand.
I get calls all the time for it.
HD Brows officially launched at the end of May and more and more people are requesting it.
Most of my new clients have found me on the salon finder on the HD Brows website. You do have to pay to go on this though which I personally think is a bit of a liberty!
It's a bit like paying for designer goods. Some designer brands may be of the same quality as a less well-known brand but people will pay a premium for the designer goods.
It's the same with HD Brows. Admittedly some clients will not want to pay more than a regular eyebrow shape but you will get new clients into your salon who may very well have other treatments with you.
I think a lot of people fall into the trap of assuming that their clients will not pay for this service and therefore do not market it properly.
You should never assume that clients won't pay for something. You'd be surprised how many clients that you think won't pay a lot of money for something, actually will.
If you don't want to invest in it then that's fine but it is very clever marketing and for those that have done the training and marketed it properly, they are now reaping the rewards.

are hairwell and refectocil different to the regular tints we buy for brow and lash tinting?

Not really, just a different brand, although Refectocil have a good range of colours rather than the standard, brown, black, blue/black etc etc, they do tints to suit blondes & red heads.

Hairwell are sold in our local Alan Howard wholesalers, Refectocil I buy at Beauty Express (I think!). :)

Thanks for all the comments, I've just rang HD and they've told me they don't do the in-salon training anymore as they are so busy they don't need too, which is a shame as now it'll cost much more with travel and hotels, and the next available date is the end of feb, so having a think over weekend as the £500 deposit each we've got to be sure!

Oh I've not Missed the point at all I'm just not sure if I agree that it's worth that amount of money :/

And I don't doubt for one minute that clients would pay for it but I again I do feel the training is rather extortionate. It's just my opinion

As a consumer I would most definitely go to a salon for HD Brows especially now there are a lot of salons doing their own version. It's like minx isn't it; why have trendy when u can have the real thing? (not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with trendy). But as a qualified and experienced beauty therapist I just can't help but feel that the course for HD Brows is a bit of a rip off especially as Nilam has told me herself that I won't be learning anything new. It didn't really sell it to me :/

Hi- I'm new to this so just figuring out how to use this!!
I did my HD training In April, I didn't really know what to expect as I thought I knew how to tint wax etc - only thing new would be threading - however the training was amazing with very talented technicians. I feel my skills now are second to none and my clients love it! Yes you could go to another training course or whatever so if u want to do that .. Do it! For me HD has made my salon very successful and it's what clients want - so if the clients are asking for it why not offer it?? I made my money back from the training in no time and now have a lot of clients who come every 4-6 weeks For the treatment and my clients have no problem in paying £25- you do buy in to the brand also which brings in more clients!
End of day go on training or go on another course or don't but if you want clients coming to your salon if u like it or not, HD brows are the way to go as it's what everyone is asking for. I deff think it's worth it and love them!
