I just attended a festive ladies pamper & gift evening(fund raiser), where i gave 4 mini manicure's for free. I was told to take leaflets, giftvouchers, to promote my businrss and any gift's that i may like to sell to be able to make some money from the eveing. Well it was a disaster. The treatments went really well, and the ladies are keen for other beauty treatments. But the gifts!!! I specifically bought some some small gifts to sell, Sparkly top coat trio mini's, a 4 pack of mini festive nail polish's, and some jewelled nail files. I was very careful with my price's. However i didn't sell a thing. It appeared the ladies were only there for the treatments and wine. So i am now left with over £100 of stock. I am just starting out as mobile, so only have a few clients and so no way of selling the items.
What i am after is some idea's from all you experienced geekers.
Sorry to go on so long.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this, and thankyou for any help you may be able to give.

hi there, we're only just moving into the festive season, so why not have a scout through your local paper and see if there are any similar events coming up and see if you can get involved, contact local schools, etc. to see if they have a fair coming up, hold a pamper party at home, get your friends to have one for you?
Hope that's given you a start, Lou xx

I'd be inclined to try another one, maybe at a christmas fair rather than a charity event, & charge a small amount of money for the manicure & give the gift for free. Of course, if you were offering the manicure for free anyway then they would technically be paying for the gift, but you need not word it that way!

Failing that use the draw of a free gift to get your existing clients to book a higher profit treatment than they normally would.

Thanks guys for your suggestions, i did think about school xmas fayre's, but i also like the idea of maybe holding a pamper party, ask a few friends to bring a friend(potential new clients) offer a few low cost treatments, a few glasses of wine and put the items on sale too, at least i would make some money to help cover cost of the goods. But i will look out for xmas fayre's. Many thanks.

Hi Nikki, Contact a few local schools and try to get the PTA chairpersons name so that you can attempt to get a stall at their school xmas fayres.

We did a ladies night a while ago and whilst we didn't sell any nail related products we sold lots of other stuff. From that we were invited to other fayres and have since sold most of the nail items.

Keep at it chick, and they will go, but you have had some good suggestions already.

Just found a Village Xmas fayre in 2 weeks not far from me, have emailed to enquire, hope they dont charge too much for a stall, i only need a small table. If no joy will give pamper party a try.
Thanks guys.
Will let you know how i get on.
xx

Good luck Nikki. We have a fayre booked in a couple of weeks too, so hopefully will bring in some extra christmas pennies.
