I hope someone can help me I soray tanned a lady a month ago and she rang the next day to say she had gone patchy onher legs I could not get down to see her so I resprayed for free the following week (her friend was fine) The one I resprayed her with was la tan no 10 and she said was fine lovely colour although went patchy after 2nd day.

I went over yesterday to do her a set of enhancments and two of her bridesmaids and spray them all, (wis doubting weather to do this lady as from past and it being her wedding) anyhows she informs me she is pregneant, well I straight away knew the reason for her past month tan going funny, informed her and said did she want to go ahead with tan as she had bad exp last time more than likely would happen again, she said yes fine im not bothered about bottom half just top and arms. She also has quite bad uneven skin tone and is quite a large lady with medium skin tone which goes red in sun before going golden.

I sprayed everyone else first and her last, when I turned around she had put her vest top on straps and all:eek: and had drag marks on her shoulders where she had done this and also she had hair marks on her back by shoulders where she had her hair loose ,, she took straps down and it was worse, I took quick decision and told her to shower all tan off quickly and we would re-spray. Done her again and left at 10pm last night, this morning she has text to say her hands palms and wrists are patchy and orange what should she do. I told her that her palms would only go patchy if they were to touch another part of her body as I dont spray palms, or if they were resting on her legs face when sleeping. I also stated that she knew risk of tan before hand. What shall I do tell her to scrub hands and respray?? or use make up? or dont scrub? should she use oil and hot water?

Help I said I would go over at 11am if need be, she is leaving to get wed at 2pm. Any help would be great thanks guys xx

This is probably too late but oil is the way to go. This is what strips the tan as you know.....One point to you though - You should have asked her if she was pregnant as this should be on a consultation form that you would have filled out before tanning her so you should have known she was pregnant.........She may well not have exfoliated if her skin was funny...did you give her pre care advice?

Hi yes I done all that, but unfortunatley she never knew herself, she is still only 11 weeks so she would of been 6weeks pregnant then. Yes I always give pre care and after care but they never listen lol,, well some do. xx

am i right in thinking you sprayed somebody you knew to be 6 weeks pregnant? Am i the only person who thinks that's wrong? All my training told me that insurance companies wont cover you to work on women who are less than 12 weeks.

I think the poster is saying that the client wasn't yet aware that she was pregnant at the time :wink2:

Yes I sprayed her at 6 weeks and 11 weeks. She was unaware that she was pregneant asprev poster said, but if she was and informed me then I still would of sprayed her, as she would of read and agreed to terms of pre spray tan advise sheet. Why would you not spray someone? if someone asked you why you could not spray them, what would you say to client ? xx

I've sprayed lots of pregnant clients who are less than 12 weeks pregnant.
The only reason it is advised not to, is that the tan can go patchy in the first trimester due to all the hormones.
I always make clients aware of this and they still want to go ahead. I've never had one that's come out patchy though. As long as you make them aware that it could go patchy, then it's up to them to decide.

I trained with two different companies and both advised that the insurance company will not insure you to spray anyone under 12 weeks pregnant. Always best to check with your insurance company before spraying.

Personally I don't spray pregnant ladies or ladies undertaking fertility treatment because of the hormone levels potentially affecting the result of the tan and secondly, for pregnant ladies in the first 12 weeks the baby is developing. I did some independent research and found an article that said that as yet the full effects of fake tanning on unborn babies is still not known - they don't know how much of chemicals the placenta is able to filter out of the blood before the blood reaches the baby.

Anyway, back to your lady. It sounds as if she hasn't exfoliated properly and as for the rest of it, I really don't think that you stood a chance. Crowd control comes to mind here - I don't think that she listened to a word you said - I must admit that I give my people a bit of a lecture before during and after a tan. I only had one who appeared to have touched herself all over the place so she popped back and I "filled her in" (pardon the expression) so all worked well. I have had a couple of strange what looked like run lines but my last course advised me that it is where the client goes to bed and perspires and it is nothing to do with the tan. The lady popped back and sprayed in the area on the underside of the arm and she was fine.

I hope this helps. Please let us know what happened.
