Hi
I have got a client whose nails I have done with acrylic L&P and she trapped her ring finger the other night and the trauma has caused her naturel nail to lift from the nail bed to half way down! She's desperate to keep her nails on and she's due fo an infill, whats the best thing to do??? Do I do a normal fill or should I take it off completely?

Judgement call this one, I personally would file it off until a seal is formed, but if you feel that soaking would be easier and faster for you then remove and overlay the whole nail again.

If it were me, I would take the nails down quite short and rebalance as normal, cuticle oil down the nail with onycholysis and that nail should grow back up in time.

Did you mean take the nail short? I guess we don't know how damaged the overlay is in this instance.

Yes if the overlay is very damaged, soak off and re-apply.

Sorry to clarify, not reducing the length, rather filing off any area of lifting until all that remains is cleanly sealed to the nail plate. This way you can often avoid having to 'retip' or 'resculpt'

Of course as Cathie mentioned if the nail is a total shambles and you are not confident to file it all off then soaking off is a nice clean start ;)

Just had a peek at your profile and as you are quite new to the business I would say to soak off and start again. You could use the cotton wool and tin foil method and the you will be able to rebalance the rest of the nails while that one is soaking off xxx

The actual nail enhancement isn't damaged at all! Believe it or not! but you can see that the natural nail has come away from the nail bed, if I soak off the enhancement completely will I be able to re apply straight away or will I need to wait til the nail grows up? it had lifted from the free edge right the way down to nearly the lanula.
If I do re-apply a new enhancement i'm not really sure what to do - it would mean me applying iy directly on to the nail bed!!!????
Thanks for all your replys so far, I am pretty new so its the first time i've come across this x:irked:
