I'm looking for advice. My skins worst it's ever been. I'm 34 and have more acne than I did when I was a teenager.
I have spots regular and some really angry ones at that time of the month, which take weeks to go.
My forhead around eyebrows and across chin is bad also neck.

Recently I've developed what in think is the exact opposite to the above skin type. Down my smile lines from nose to mouth sides I have redness with non yellow spots, perhaps more a watery blister type. Seems like I've damaged it with a bad product??

Anyhow seems I have two separate skin types and issues going on, not to mention that I'm 34 and a fri use anti aging stuff but im scared to use anything right now.

Any advice welcome

Apart from go to the doctor because he won't know anything And it's not serious enough to go to a dermatogisf at the hospital x

You will have me recommending the skin care range I use, the next person recommending the one they use. Then someone else will suggest microdermabrasion and yet another will suggest an aggressive peel. In all honesty it is really hard to make suggestions without seeing your skin.

First things first.
What do you currently use on your skin. What is your routine and what make up do you use.

Are your break outs definitely hormonal or do they get worse but are there all the time.

I agree with the doctor comment lol x

I had a really spotty chin about a year ago, big angry ones. This was unusual for me so i went to the doctor.... it was sorted straight away and now my skin is back to normal. Id give it a go. No skincare regime wouldve helped at that time x

The part that is in my smile line from nose to mouth is the part I am most confused about this seems to be like irritated perhaps buy something? I've never had this before I trained in dermalogica many years ago but don't use it any more , if I had noticed this on someone I may have prescribed barrier repair?

I Used cheap tea tree wash about 7 weeks ago a few times to try and get rid of my spots but I think it might have irritated this smile line area. I don't use it anymore I've been free of using that and any harsh products on the area for about three weeks now but it hasn't actually improved.

Am using simple moisturising face wash. Simple moisturising face cream.
Although neither of them work well on my spotty areas .

Trip to the doctors might give me some antibiotics for my spots it's not gonna help the redness in the other area. And I don't want antibiotics I like to get to the root of the problem.

Hi,

Just to let you know you are not alone. I am 30 next year and still suffer with acne, face, chest and back. I have tried pretty much every skincare product, antibiotics, seen a dermatologist etc. I was offered roaccutane but turned it down.

I am currently using a gently skincare, free from most harsh chemicals and as natural as possible, Simple is still full of plenty of harsh chemicals and I find it terrible for my skin. My skin is in much better condition as I am not using all the stuff for spots which dries it out meaning I moisturise more and too often then causing more
.
What makeup do you use, a lot contain ingredients which agitate and can cause acne and block up your pores. I can't use anything cream based whatsoever and have stuck to mineral makeup now for years.

Have you looked at what you eat and if that could be causing any flare ups?

I have been eliminating things from my diet. It looks to be that sugar/dairy cause flare ups for me. As well as hormones.

It is hard and I am covered in scars from my teenage years I am determined to find out for me what causes them and try and prevent it.
:)

If you've formerly trained in Dermalogica why not go visit a skin therapist in your area and have a free face mapping skin analysis - as it's hard to say without liking at your skin, 4 different grades of acne from a few breakouts to all over.
Anyway that's my best advice for you x

Simple really is that. There is nothing in it that your skin either wants or needs.

What make up are you using?

Use bare mineral make up you can get from debenhams

And Dermaquest clearing range is amazing

Don't use bare minerals. It contains a product called bismuth that can actually aggravate the skin and cause it to tingle and itch and even break out!

Stick to bismuth free mineral make up such as Jane Iredale.

It is nigh on impossible (not to mention unprofessional) to correctly diagnose your skin issues without actually seeing it.
Make an appointment with a beauty therapist who specialises in skin and let them analyse your skin and work out a treatment plan.

I totally agree but sometimes just suggesting someone packs in the wipes can help, or in the case of one of my clients, stopping using bare minerals made a huge difference.

Sadly most advice on these sort of posts tends to be anecdotal. This worked for me, so give it a go!

It can become expensive!

radical skincare - age defying exfoliating pads will get rid of that in 2 weeks and make your skin look amazing , space nk do it , makes all your other skincare work harder

Thank you for your replies.
I have two issues going on as I mentioned. Not just the acne.using anything to fight acne will aggravate the sensitive area, I think.
It could indeed get expensive if I go to see a skin care specialist when they try to sell me two lots of products for two opposing skin issues :/

The sensitive? Sensitised? Area is the one I'm more concerned about be uE that's new for me and I can't treat my acne as easily due to this wHich I don't even know what it is.

My foundation has always been max factor. Nothing changed there. I need good thick coverage as I have scarring and large pores.

You can go for free face mapping without the obligation to purchase any products. I would say if your currently suffering from sensitised skin, you need to treat this first, as if you put anything for breakouts/acne on your skin it will only aggravate your sensitivity more. When my skin barrier is damaged (generally from over processing!) I use Dermalogica's ultra calming range (skin kit) for a month then i can go back to my normal regime, in your case (obviously I've not seen your skin) go back after a month and have another skin analysis to record your progress, and then have a treatment prescribed for your breakouts once your skin has calmed down.
The other thing I really would suggest using is a pure mineral make up, Jane Iredale is fantastic for skin conditions wether that's dryer skin or oily/acne skins. If you prefer full coverage try Jane Iredale Glow Time BB cream, it's full coverage & a 4 in 1 product (spf, concealer, foundation & powder) - it's got skin soothing & healing properties, it's a skincare make up not just to mask imperfections but will treat them too.
I would have suggestions like; change your pillow case often, use washable sponges to cleanse with/ or cotton pads, don't squeeze your breakouts.
Hope you find a solution as I know from experience it's pants having acne skin and sensitivity at the same time!
Treat one skin condition at a time xx
