I'm renting a beauty room and nail station off a hairdresser and she came into me today and said she wanted to rent the nails to someone else. Im worried i wont be able to make enough to cover rent now as the business is only open 6 weeks. I told her i dont mind once i still keep the mani's and pedi's too and the other person she gets in just does Gel or whatever and shes not sure shes up for that and asked me can i not just do the feet and the new person do hands.

What will i do?

Do you have a contract with the person you rent from?

Why is she asking someone else to so nails when you are already doing them?

I wouldn't be happy if I was renting a room and being told I couldnt do the treatments I was renting the room to do!!

we have a verbal argreement of a three month trial only been there 6 weeks.

She wants someone who has a list of clients already and this was what she wanted orginally

i wouldnt be agree to this.
even if she advertised for someone with clients she agreed to take you so she now cant go back and say she has found someone with clients so you have to stop doing x,y,z and let them do it. no way!
i wouldnt do this to my beauty girl i wanted somone with clients (dont we all) but i found someone i liked and took her i still get interest from other people who see the advert still but i say its gone .. simple..

say no .. sorry she is being greedy now she's found someone

Maybe you should sound out some other salons about renting. We can all condemn this salon owner for being greedy, but in reality if this nail tech is gonna bring lots of clients into the salon, well I kinda don't blame her. This could possibly work in YOUR favour if the nail clients use you for their waxing/ skincare etc. However if you really want to do nails, you need to move on to another salon.

totally agree with leonnib she is taking the water!!!

I would love a long list of clients but this is something that takes time and she would know this, and still rented the room to you

I would say to her that you agreed to provide the services she wanted to offer in her salon and that it should stay that way if she wants someone else to offer other services then fair enough but not the ones you are already doing

Good luck hun

she hasnt found anyone yet its an idea she was thinking of.

She said she'll think about it at the weekend so ill let you know what she says on tue and take it from there.

I'm confused...are you paying rent or is she getting a % from each client you do? If you are paying rent then so long as you can cover it, what does it matter about the client list.

Or is she thinking that if she has a nail person and a beauty person she can charge them both rent and make twice the amount of money?

If the new nail person already has a client list then you could still continue to build your business as some people might prefer you doing their nails to the new person....that's an option you could offer her.
