Hi I am really confused, and hope you guys can help. I am currently doing nails mobile and completed my training with CND a few months ago. I was looking at doing something as an add on service and was torn between semi permenant eyelashes and tanning. I have come to the conclusion that tanning is more viable as only takes 10-15 mins and low overheads etc. I am looking at two companys, Tantrix, and la tanning,, also maybe sun junkie. Tantrix is ** pounds for training and *** for machine which is a tan pro 850, or minimist and also *** for a tent,, whereas la tanning offering a hvlp 5008 a tent 3l solution training all other bits for ***.....

is the minimist and the tanpro850, a hvlp machine?? and what is the diffrence, is the hvlp a compressor or airbrush?? which is best?? and can all machines use any solution?? Could I not do my training with tantrix and maybe buy machine from latanning and solution, as they offering free machine, tent solution for *** (I think that much). Sunjunkie are offering a good offer as well, but there machine is a 'pig' can anyone help out please. Thanks guys

Hi Katie

Get the best machine you can afford - it will save you money in the long run. Of the machines you have mentioned the Minimist Mobile (Tantrick) - although also available from other companies as well - is the better one.

The other machines are perfectly good for tanning as well, however, if you are thinking of doing mobile parties and want a machine that will cope with that as well as a machine that will last, then the Minimist is the one to go for. The HVLP machines are compressors with spray guns. An airbrush type is similar to one you would use for nail art with a pen style spray. By far the HVLP's are better. You will use less solution, create less overspary and tan far more quickly with HVLP.

Not sure how the other companies operate, but with Tantrick - once trained - you can use whatever solution you like. There is no need or no obligation to buy equipment from Tantrick if you did training with them either. You are perfectly free to source your equipment from elsewhere if you can find a decent deal.

Whatever you decide, please bear in mind you want something that is capable of performing well for you. Either way, you will get your initial outlay back fairly quickly once you are up and running.

Good luck and feel free to ask any more questions!

If your after deals now is the time to get them. Lots of companies are offering free training, and you can get Maximists with tent and solution all in for £***. Theres also starter kits that include everything you need for £*** all in.

Make sure you get good marketing too. I have girls around you making a small fortune because they have marketed themselves correctly, whereas a few that had bought equipment and only been trained on technique and couldn't make ends meet, so had to be re-trained. They are now picking up clients quickly too.

When you buy a machine make sure its easy to carry. The Maximist is perfect as its light, atomises the solution to give a flawless finish and has spare cups so you ca swap and change at tan parties, or use them to carry different percentage solutions around instead of loads of 1 litre bottles. If your not planning on doing more than 3-4 clients a day/time then the spraymate lite is a super starter machine. I keep mine in the car because its so small and compact if I need a machine for demos or last minute bookings where I cant get home for my Maximist or Pig. I must admit though the Maximist Gun is far better than the Pigs and the Pro Gun is one of the best guns available on the market, and has a lifetime warranty!

Hope I'm not too late with this reply but here goes. I'm familar with all the machines mentioned and without doubt the best value for money and reliable machine is the 5008. You should get 20 sprays out of one litre.
The pig is very tempermental and the Mini mist, although a good machine isnt worth paying the extra money.
Hope this helps

Just taking a moment to analyse the machines being mentioned here purely from an unbiased and from feed back from the many various users of these machines.
The HV5008 is a newbie on the block..manufactured by Earlex who are an extremely good high volume manufacturer. The Hv5008 has been born from the old Earlex 3000 machines which were produced for the application of spray paint and sold widely in B&Q (sorry yes B&Q)

A certain experienced dealer in the U.S. (TBT) developed the HV5008 in conjunction with Earlex specifically for the spray tan sector.

This machine represents excellent value for money for those with a limited budget...it will turn out a good tan however is a little less forgiving than the T200 gun which is superior.

Of the many thousands sold to date there have been virtually none that have had machine problems....not like the T200 which...with the latest batches into the UK have had a higher than usual motor failure rate(that said these machines have been replaced by the importer without hesitation)
The only significant problems seen with this machine have been with the guns..the factory settings on the brass retaining nut haven't always been consistent..easily solved by simply loosening or tightening the nut)

The T200...well its been around and stood the test of time and still remains the back bone machine of this sector....more expensive granted but does have a superior gun (which is where the major costs are) over the HV5008.

As of today the T200 rules the roost however that could soon change with the upgrade gun the HV5008 system now offers ...this gun is superior to the T200 gun however costs more(again this is where the cost is) ...this upgrade additional costs brings the HV5008 in at a similar price to the T200.

This combination of upgrade gun probably tips the scales in the favor of the HV5008.

The ideal scenario from a price perspective would be the powerhouse from the HV5008 and the hose and gun from the T200.....as this is not possible therapists need to make the call based on what is available.

If price is an issue the Hv5008 is a fantastic piece of kit..if you can afford that bit extra the T200 is ideal as is the Hv5008 with the upgrade gun.

In so far as lesser machines ....you really cant do any better than the Maximist spray mate .....manufactured by Earlex again..specifically designed for the spray tan sector ..again a joint venture development with TBT in the U.S.

HTH

Hi, I wondered if I could butt in and ask you a question Collin? Is it possible to buy the upgraded gun for the 5008 separately, and if so do you sell it? I'm looking at my options at the moment and with the recent posts am thinking of buying the 5008 and then perhaps upgrading the gun in another month or 2 when I have made my money back on the machine.

Thank you, Lou x

That's actually not a bad strategy and yes you can..they are available now...be it from a limited number of dealers..that will no doubt change fairly quickly.
