Hi spray tan geeks please help. Im a novice spray tanner but i've just spray tanned two sisters using sienna x 10%. At the end of the sessions they both said they loved the colour and seemed happy with the application but it took me ages because the lotion didn't seem to grab certain parts of the body and on other parts it seemed to be too much and i spent loads of time having to use the buffing mitt. I can't think why this would happen other than they both admitted to having particularly oily skin! They assured me that they had done a full prep so i can't understand it. Im just concerned in case the finished result isn't good!! Any ideas what might have caused this?. Many thanks

You do have to make sure that you are moving the gun at the right speed for the flow of product, Steve from nouvatan explained this very clearly on a thread a couple of day's ago, to fast and you'll get pale spots to slow and you'll get drips, also when moving down the body it's very easy to find yourself pulling the gun further away from the body rather then staying paralel, again this pulling back will cause less product to hit the body.
A geek once told me to fill my gun with coloured water and to go outside and spray a wall, just to get the feel of how fast to move the gun to get even covarage.
That aside, I spraytanned my daughter the other night and thought I had to much product between her breasts, what it actually was, was the guide colour clinging to some very fine fair hairs:eek: Once the tan had dried I just blotted it away to save her clothes getting messy. Tan's do not dry very well on hairy bodies, which is why men leave more tan on the bed sheets then we do.

Thanks Susie - thats really helpful. I try to keep the speed right and also not drop the gun when going down the legs but i guess its just practice really. Not as easy as some people think though is it!!!

I see you are on Merseyside, if it helps you are really welcome to pop in and see us anytime here at the Creative Academy in Leigh to go through your technique. We are planning on holding a spray day in April to give advice and information on training, product etc, if you let me have your email i will put you on our alert list for when the date is set.
