Hi, wondered if anyone could help me please, What changes to the epidermis are caused by medication/environment/chemicals? Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the site hun
I don't mean to sound harsh but you really need to look over your course work and textbooks as it isn't really fair for someone else to do your homework for you.

I am sure if you search on the Internet you will get some help:hug:

Break the question down into easier, smaller parts and then think specifically for each area.

For example, think of a medication which has a direct effect on the skin. Name it, describe its effects....and continue for the other two.

These questions baffle me as they are vague question for a massive subject. You could write an epic novel on the effects! Sorry this doesn't help you! There are hundreds of thousands of medicines and hundreds of thousands of chemicals. I would assume that they don't want a medical journal handed in so I would just keep it general and give an example for each one except for environment where it could be written in more detail.

(Not to complicate things further and not important for this assignment but a drug can be a chemical-so what a baffling question! The mind boggles as to what they expect as an answer to this!)

A better way to look at this question would be "What environmental factors can have an effect on the skin and what are the effects?"
Then talk about the following:
Hot climate
Humid environment
Cold climate

"How do chemicals effect the skin and what chemicals are important in connection with beauty therapy?"-
You can talk about galvanic treatments, fruit acids, salyclic acid and chemical peels. Therefore how they can be used to break down the acid mantle for product penetration and also for exfoliation.

"Why is it important to know about medications?"
Talk about how medicines can be contraindications and can for example make the skin dry and thinner e.g Roaccutane

And how some oral contraceptives help reduce oil production and balance the skin.
