Hi, I was just wondering for some much needed help and advice. I am currently on a sort my life out mission. I have always been interested in doing nails, beauty and hair. I would really like to start off with nails as that way I can carry on doing them whilst studying the others. Can anybody reccomend a course for me to do, possibly not braking the bank too much :?: i live in birkenhead on the wirral close to liverpool. I would be grateful to any replies received.
Many Thanks Carleen

Firstly, define not breaking the bank?

If you want quality training then you need to be prepared to pay for it - if you go for cheap do everything in 2 hours at a cost of whatever then you will wish you had gone for quality training to start with.

If you check out "training" in the search on here loads of threads will come up.

Also check in the Links directory for distributors - companies to look out for are Creative Nail Design, NSI, EZ Flow and I am sure there are other quality trainers.

Call them up and ask for their training information.

Please, whatever you do, dont just go by the cost of the course but check out what you actually get included in the course - not everyone includes a kit and this will make a huge difference to your final cost.

Hi, by breaking the bank i mean having to work for another year just to be able to afford the course. I have seen a course I am interseted in doing which is a Diploma accredited by The Guild of Beauty Therapists and Professional Beauty Direct. Is this any good? there are several comments on the page which are written by student which have taken the course saying they enjoyed it and it really helped them. But with this being the first course I am doing I dont wont to dive in and mess it all up... This course doesnt include a kit and says they will be teaching the uv acrylic system.. really stupid question im about to ask but if i purchase a standard acrylic kit will this enable me to carry on after the course has been taken as they provide everything i need on the day.
Thanks

i personally wouldnt recomend u.v acrylic as being the first system you train in. u.v gel yes, or normal liquid and powder acrylic.

if you did that training then you would not be able to simply switch to regular acrylic as the procedures are different. added to that, u.v acrylic is known to be high on the ladder of sensitivity i.e it can easily cause sensitivity and allergies in techs and clients. its not a system that is widely used to be honest.

I agree with Susan and I also believe the uv acrylic is very old technology.

Is this a college course you are talking about. Most college courses only teach you the very minimum and most people then choose to do a manufacturers course in order to feel confident to work on the public - some dont but most do.

As I said above, look for a recognised manufacturers course and start as you mean to go on rather than settling for second best.
