:confused:Hi huns, does anyone have any idea's how to win back old clients? I qualified in 2008, having had no experience in the beauty industry at all. I was trained at CND in Milton Keynes and since got my NVQ, I took work in a salon for 12 months to get some experience. I have speeded up L&P now to 1hour from 2.5hrs and have improved on my application. I lost quite few of my early clients and would like to get them back because the trouble is I work from home now and live in a small village so clients are scarce. Now that I have more training and experience I feel more confident that i can keep them, how do I win them back if they were unhappy with me at the start? any suggestion will be a great help

It depends on what they are doing now really. If they have found someone else and are happy with their work then it will be very difficult to get them to come back to you. If they have been without someone then it should be a bit easier.

I am totally against doing offers at any time but as you are trying to prove that you are so much better than before maybe do a couple of complimentary sets for key customers. By this I mean if you have one lady who knows a lot of the others then she would be a good advert for you. Or you could offer sets for half price but this is where it could all go pear shaped as they may think that you are still not very experienced and that is why you are charging less!

Personally I would contact those that I could and just be honest. Explain that you are so much better than before, tell them what you have been up to and that you would love the chance to show them what you can do now. I have found, over the years, that clients much prefer you to be honest, they will respect you for that!

Good luck, whatever you decide to do! :)

I would love to hear how this turns out. I think we all have those clients from the beginning, and you think "oh, if they could see me now!!"

Good luck

I think you are right about honesty, I have been told to lie about almost everything in the past to get more confidence from my clients, it made me very uncomfortable and they dont appreciate being treated as though they are stupid, it always comes back to bite!
I found this a problem cause I go red if I am lying :o
For me, this is good advice to remember when considering my old clients
thanks

You know giving them a free set is a good idea, and here is why. They paid you in the past. From what you said it was not the best and you have gotten better. so in in a since they have paid for a good set and there is not much os a client base to get where you are it would be a GREAT idea to make them happy. They will bring in the rest of the town! all for a few free sets ;)
