How do you use nail foil?

I tried gold foil over vinylux this morning and looked really gold until I put topcoat on which has dulled and cracked it, would it be better with shellac? I want it to look really mirrored x

I dug my foils out after reading this post and had another go with normal polish. It looked great until I put topcoat on, then like you say it cracked and went dull :-(
Any ideas what's happening anyone? X

Was it fast drying topcoat ? They make my acrylic paints crack. Try a non fast drying instead maybe.

Thanks for your reply! It's Sparitual trubond, does dry fairly quickly. Will try with something else x

Mine was vinylux topcoat so its fast drying too, I'm going to try same with shellac and see if it works
