Evening,
Ive recently changed my website address from . org to .co.uk (.org was only available 2 years ago when I set my website up),my only worry is .org expires in November, how long will it take roughly for .co.uk to be found on Google/yahoo etc??

I did this only to be told that you now start from scratch with a whole new web address in the same way as a you would starting out again.

Can you not keep your old and your new domain?

Google now apparently only looks at how popular your site is with reciprical links and some other techie bits Ruth will explain.

My old domain was first page on google. Then I changed it and trying after 3 months still to move it up!

I would be tempted to keep the old domain at least for another year - maybe you could set the .org up to do an "HTTP redirect" to the new .org.uk one - then Google should hopefully have time to update its links to your new domain...

Oh thanks Ruth ,glad you replied :),so how do I go about redirecting it please??

Ah, that depends on who you've got your .org domain with at the moment - do you know who it is off the top of your head?

Ha ha, you're laughing then! Just set up non-framed web forwarding from the .org to the .org.uk - or drop me a PM if you want me to do it for you :)
