How to achieve a vibrant red

I'm a nail and skin geek but am after some advice in relation to achieving a vibrant red and my hair girls aren't on geek so it's down to me to ask!

We use Paul Mitchell and want the get similar to this on dark brown hair (base 4)

Tried 6r but it's nowhere as vibrant. Reluctant to pre-lighten as last lightening made the hair too dry for matrix optismooth treatment.

I'd love to hear any suggestions from you colouring geeks....

Hello! If you're writing on behalf on your hair girlies!!

You arnt going to get that bright red if the ''client' is base four, Also Did you put 6r over coloured four base?

base 4 was the natural colour, we got a fab result using clynol 577 really really vibrant!
