Hey everyone,

was just wondering if anyone can help me. Since being very young (iam now 21) or at least as far back as I can remember i have had a problem with my nails n the surrounding skin. The only way to describe it is that they split, discolour and never grow (especially my toe nails) the skin around them seems to just decay for want of a better word. I have had this checked out with the doctor who advised a treatment for a fungal infection but none of these worked. I have since been to a 'meeting' in which over 30 dermatologists peered n poked at me but to no avail. They took a sample of the nail n the only thing they established was that there was no fungal infection. No treatment was offered. This is a hugely embarrasing problem for me so much so that i avoid wearing open toe shoes or sandals which is really hard in warm weather or on holiday. I have no solution. As far as i know nail extentions (acrylic and the new light ones) are not an option for toe nails n this would be rather embarrasing to have done anyway. Does anyone know of any solution for me? Is there a surgical route I could try or am i just best buyin a nail set n tryin it out myself? Any answers would be greatly appriciated!!!

Thank You

We are not Doctors or podiatrists and it seems like you have been down that route. We are not qualified to diagnose so couldn't advise you about any kind of medical treatment.

If you could post a picture, then we may be able to tell if the toes can be enhanced because it is possible to all sorts of wonderful things with toes to improve the look of them. You mustn't be embarrassed because this is what we DO and have probably seen worse in our time!!

The skin problem is another issue that we can't solve, but regular use of Solar Oil (the miracle in a bottle) on the skin may soften it and improve the appearance.

I'm sure this is distressing for you and would love to be able to help, but 'sight unseen' no one can do much. We need to see an image.

Beside the Solar Oil could i also advise you to try out Rejuvenator
A copper-peptide complex therapy for damaged skin from CND a wunder creme for damaged skin. It have help many of my clients with split and damage skin.

Hey Sophie,

Sorry to hear that this 'condition' whatever it is is bringing you down, like Geeg said, if you post a pic we should be able to tell you weather your toes, nails etc can be enhanced. Providing there are no contraindications and there is obviously no fungal infection you should have no probs getting them done. Also dont feel ashamed, I can only speak for myself but I love transforming something that the client is unhappy with into something beautiful, and making them feel better about themselves. I hope you get it sorted, perhaps go back to another doc and get a second opinion. Without wanting an answer on a public forum, things than can effect your nails are diet, medication, chemicals etc. as it's both your feet and hands, wear and tear and chemicals and water etc can prob be ruled out, have you been on medication all your life, are you healthy otherwise? (no answers needed, just stating a few things that can effect the growth, appearance etc of your nails).
Just a final note, it's prob not the best idea to go buying a kit and doing them yourself with out any training, if your nails are already in a bad condition, through no fault of your own of course, then an 'amature' messing around with products and files etc will only make things worse. Should you decide to get them enhanced please please research your nail tech. Maybe someone on here could help you x
