hi ladies,
iv just passed my foundation L&P with CND and i LOVE doing nails im just finding it abit stressful as the nails i do seem to start lifting and look abit rubbish after a few days! and im just getting really down about it at the moment.
im preping the nail well and trying not to get the L&P on the cuticle or sidewalls and i use only creative products! and im sure my mixed ratio is ok i just cant understand it!!
is this normal for newly qualified techs or is it just me?
any tips would be great.. i just want to be a great nail tech!!
thanks
stacey xx

If you have just passed then you are normal to have these challenges. Remember you are not fully qualified just, qualified with Foundation training ... qualified to practice on clients ... full qualification is when you gain the coveted Master Certificate.

There is more to doing nails than just prep and mix ratio. Lack of complete prep is one of the (if not THE) main cause of lifting in that area, but there is also another very important reason why product can lift and that is that you are not pressing the bead firmly enough onto the nail in the zone 3 area and possibly the sides.

Think about it .. new ones are scared to press firmly in the areas mentioned, because they are scared of touching the skin. But PRESS you MUST or the product will lift. A secure contact must be made between the product and the DRY nail plate and you can't do it without pressing.

Getting a copy of 'nailclass'by gigi rouse will explain how to apply perfectly in all the zones of the nail.

Good luck and don't let it get you down ... if was that easy, everyone would be great and trust me ... they're not.

thank you! i will get the book!! i just want to be the best, i love doing nails and want to be really good i am going to do all the courses with CND all the way to masters so im hoping one day i will be a good nail tech like i want. x

Swapping products won't help you with basic techniques the lack of which is letting you down with every product you choose.

Personally I would go to CND and do some skill building classes. It wont take a CND Ambassador very long to see where your troubles lie and you will be working with the top quality product, educators and suppliers. Further education and skill building is what you need at this point rather than allot of explanations in writing which won't help. .Hug:

Thanks but i wish it was that easy i am in new zealand and there isnt as much help here its not quite the back of beyond but close! my tutor was trained in the uk (im english too but trained here) in creative but maby she lacked in the finer points of teaching n didnt have the explanations when we asked about lifting, she was good at nails but not at teaching n not trained to teach although she did this for a professional college! :(

Hi Serendipity

Am I right that your educator was not a CND educator?
A tech can be a good tech, but if they are not an 'educator' then they won't have the full arsenal of how to help and guide a student through the learning process...

CND have the worlds best education program from novice right through to advanced, all of which is provided by internationally qualified 'nail teachers' I would strongly recomend looking into the courses!

There are a lot of causes in lifting - most of which come down to the technicians technique... a skill building class in front of a good tutor will sort this out very quickly..
