Hi

I'm new to all this (both being a nail tech, and using a forum!) so bare with me!!

I have started using Illusion Soak-Off gel, but I dont seem to be able to soak them off very well?

Whilst I can sit and peel them off myself, this obviosuly doesn't give a professional service for customers!! When I soak them off, the gel seems to go brittle and doesn't glide off in one go as I was lead to believe.

I have been filing to break the seal, then soaking for 20 mins - but still end up filing more and soaking more - which really seems quite complicated when I really wanted a quick and professional system. And obviously with filing I notice I am beginning to damage the natural nail which is something I'm very concerned about which is why I wanted to use a soak-off.

What am I doing wrong???!!!

Welcome to salongeek

Are you using the manufacturers recommended soak off product?

I'm using acetone? Do you think that makes a difference then?
Thanks
Pauline

Follow these steps to quickly soak-off Illusion Soak-Off Gels. The process should take approximately 20 minutes (could take longer for thicker nails).

1. Roughen the surface with an Endurance 180/180 Grit File or a Lavender Block Buffer to break the seal.

2. Put hot water in two large glass bowls and place smaller glass bowls into the water. Pour the Illusion Soak-Off Gel Remover into the smaller glass bowls, making sure that the hot water does not spill into the remover.

NOTE: Another great method is to use heated craft sand in place of the water. The sand can be warmed in a microwave and used many times before replacing. Sand will retain the heat better than water.

3. Place your client’s hands in the remover and cover with a towel to keep the warmth inside.

4. Soak for 15 minutes. Illusion Soak-Off Gel does not dissolve like acrylic, so it will not have that same appearance during removal.

NOTE: Use a metal pusher or orangewood stick to gently lift the gel from around the edges. Place your client’s hands back into the remover to soak for another 5 minutes.

6. Using the metal pusher or orangewood stick, slide the gel completely off the nail.

If you would like to increase the soak-off speed, you can also skip the Primer step (or just apply Primer to the free edge - not the entire nail plate).

Thanks! thanks a great help. I think I just need to perfect the knack!!
