Hi all,

I'm in sort of a little confused bubble at the moment and I don't like it.

I'm currently in my first year of my HND Beauty Therapy course in Glasgow and, upon completion, I would quite like to go globe-trotting for a while. My epilepsy has ruled me out of any cruise ship work but I'm also happy at the prospect of on-land travelling.

My question is: will my HND be enough to allow me to do this? Some people have told me yes, yet others have told me I need an Itec at the very least. My nearest Itec college is over an hour and a half away compared to the half hour my current college is at the moment. Am I best graduating with an HNC in June and go do my Itec afterwards or stay on to do the rest of my HND if my plan is to work abroad? I know CIBTAC and CIDESCO are the creme-de-la-creme but at the minute I'm still a lowly student without £8k to spend on the major ones and am already paying for college at the minute!

Any help at all would be fantastic.

Lorraine

I guess no one can help, then.

hi hun i did my itec specifially coz we were emigrating ! .. result ..... is it depends on where you are headed ! europe seems to recognise it but america and canada .. total waste of time , i emeialed itec about it and they were useless , if you have a hnd you will be fine as you can get them "challenged " over ths side by a university , who recognises them ... my hubby did it for his ... i really wouldnt bother hun a hnd is far higher than itec , hope this helps a bit x

I'm not sure I completely understand what you mean... what is "challenged" and it's for working in North America, yes? I looked at working in Dublin and all Irish jobs want at least Itec... some mainland country jobs look for it too :( Some won't settle for less than CIBTAC or CIDESCO!

hi ya ok i will try help you with the canada side of things , lol , when they say "challenge your qualifications" basically it means getting them canadianized ... my hubby had to go to toronto uni to get his hnd sorted , they check you out etc etc then write a letter saying your hnd is equivelent to x amount of yrs at a canadian uni , hope this helps .... its very hard getting yer head round stuff over here ! x
