Hi Everyone,
Please could you help me, your advise would be much appreciated! I have looked at other threads but cannot find the answer.
My boyfriend has always suffered from really bad ingrowing hairs on his face, because he is black the hairs grow curly which he finds makes it harder for him to pull them out and they become very sore.
After he has shaved you can see he has pretty bad what I would call like razor bumps (not sure if this is the techinal term) and it's extremly sore round his jaw line for a few days so he tends not to shave too much. He
exfoliates regulary but isn't sure what else he can do/use??

Sorry if I haven't explained this very well Im not very clued up with these sorts of things but told him I would ask to his behalf.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and any suggestions welcome :green:

This is a major problem for this skin type particularly to areas where one regularly shaves.

Google PFB which if used regularly will greatly assist the ingrown hair problem as well as reducing the razor bump problem.

Most definitely good stuff for this problem

Tell him NOT to use bar soap as this can cause ingrown hairs. Witch facewash is good.

Also, one my clients (a black guy) had great results from using Gillette after shave gel. It's a blue colour.

He could also lightly dry brush his face and use E45 lotion.

These are all cheap and available from Superdrug or Boots. Xxx

Thank you Colin, this stuff looks great! He will definately want to give it a try :green:

Thank you Kim! He will be please will all these options xx

My friends dad is black and he uses some kind of powder to "dissolve" his facial hair rather than shaving...I can't think what it's called so my post is probably not so useful

Don't tell me he puts Veet or Nair on his face :green:

My client (black skin) exfoliates before he shaves. He tells me he uses a shave oil and find this helps.

Using an ingrown hair solution may help but a common complaint is that the guys find it too strong a smell on their face. Not too good for a smooch straight after a shave hey? :) :green:

Its a difficult one to manage...

Karin Herzog face cream with 3% oxygen is excellent....It can be a little pricey but a little goes a long way......Their Body Cream with 3% oxygen is also great for the Bikini line area. They not only help with bumps but will also help reduce the pigmentation marking to the skin that can be left on Black Skin.Only draw back is the hair will lighten in the area some what, not a problem if you shave every day.

Thank you so much for everyones replies, Im really grateful! :green:
Already spoken to him about some of the suggestions and he's very keen to try xx

Aloe Vera gel is also good for preventing in-grown hairs. It has soothing and healing properties.

I used it on my bikini area and it also helps stop the itching of hair as they grow back too. I also apply the gel to my legs before using my Epilady.
