Hi, does anyone know of a good intimate waxing course near Bournemouth.

The ladies in my town are demanding Brazillian & Hollywood more and more so I desperately need to get this qualification under my belt!!

You don't actually have to have a qualification.

It's not that hard. If you're a confident waxer and know your stuff, it should be a walk in the park.

I'm not sure why intimate waxing is held up to be a special type of job (and I'm not trying to be flippant here) but a lot of people don't have 'intimate waxing' qualifications because if you're an efficient waxer, they're simply not needed.

There is no one way to wax a fanny. You have people in here still waxing on all fours, rolling to one side or, god forbid, still attacking pubes with strip wax. So hey, grab a client and go your hardest.

You may want to check with your insurance company that they do not require you to hold an 'Advanced Waxing' qualification, if not great! However, you may still find it useful to go on a course. I've been waxing for 8 years and still find it useful to learn how other therapists do things as everybody does things slightly differerently. As velevteen said, there is no one way, just trial and error and you will find your own way!

Thanks for your advice, I'm a confident waxer but not when it comes to the underneath bit! I tried on a friend and the wax stuck (the hairs were not that long) and the cream wax and strip would not take the hairs out! Have since found out from other people hot wax works better.

As I've been using cream wax and not hot wax for soooo long I really do need a course!

In that case get hold of Kim Lawless on here (she is in Essex and I think you would need to go to her but Bournmouth isn't far from there in the grand scheme of things) She is the absolute QUEEN of all things wax and she'll be able to sort you out in no time! I've been a model for Kim several times and she is simply marvellous. Send her a PM and she'll get back to you.

Have fun.

I've literally just got back from the female intimate waxing course with Kim today and it was fab!!! Have been waxing for around 4 years but I feel that it's important to learn the actual techniques for hollywoods/brazilians (just my opinion), and I have come away feeling so much more confident now:D

My insurer requires me to attend a course in order for me to be covered, but I def would have done the course anyway. I can't wait to do my first proper hollywood now!

Well I have to beg to differ here,I can get all the hair out using strip wax,I would say that non strip is more comfortable for the client but if you are confident and experienced then it is perfectly possible to use strip wax and remove all hair provided it's at the correct length. The past salons I worked in didn't use hot wax so I had to make do and that's precisely what I did.

As for Velveteen's comments about intimate waxing not being hard,I agree however it's the knowing how to get the hair off around the lip area, knowing how to hold the skin and how to get the client to help with this also, and how to position the client. This is what can be daunting for anyone without being shown or taught.

Also I dont think any insurers will insure you unless you are intimate waxing trained in the UK,so you cant just go out and start waxing intimate areas, nor would I advise it unless you have at the very least been shown how to go about it.

There is an excellent training school in Waterlooville called ABFAB,which is not too far from you, they do intimate training classes there amongst other things.Good luck.
