Itec Beauty Specialist - Level 2 or Level 3 equivalent?

To be able to teach beauty I have told I have to level 3 equivalent. However I trained 9 years ago and got the ITEC specialist diploma. Now I'm worried I will have to re-train to be get the level 3.

Please - does anyone know if this is a level 2 or level 3 qualification?

Hiya Honey,

Did you do the itec Aesthetician? Beauty specialist is more or less equivalent to level 2...although itec is A LOT more indepth. The Aesthetician covers electrical facials and heat treatments. I had the same concerns when I started but was told as I have both Specialist and Aesthetician it wouldn't be a problem. It does depend on where you teach and what you want to teach, every college has different requirements.

Hi no I didn't do the aestician, or however you spelt it. I went away to live with my new hubby, but passed my specialist. So it looks like I'll have to re-train in this. GREAT.:cry:

I have this dilema to. I trained over 10 years ago firstly passed my nvq2 then went onto acheive my itec in body therapy. Did you go to the yorkshire college of beauty therapy twinkywinky, just looking at your location? i did and it was very indepth. i too dont want to have to go through re-training after all this time.

i did my itec and its basically level 2 with a bit of level 3 thrown in (electrical facials) it cant be classed as level 3 as theres no body treatments in the course and you dont do massage etc... hth xx

Hi I didn't train at Yorkshire College but have since got my level 3 in holistic therapies plus other qualifications. I am sure I'd be able to teach nvq level II in beauty and study level III if need be?

am sure you will be fine to do that hun , have you contacted the white rose colleges ?? they teach the itec x

That's where I trained originally, no not contacted them thought I'd ask here first xxx Ta Dee how is it in Canada??
