Hi geeks, i had a bit of fight with a kettle today  and needless to say the kettle won. I've burnt the top side of my fingers on my hand and its very sore and red and stinging like mad! I also have red swollen eponychium's on 3 fingers. I have enhancements on at the moment and wondered if i should keep them on? i have no broken skin but it has blistered in places on the fingers. I just dont think i could take the pain of any acetone on them. There is no lifting at the moment but they do seem to have done a bit dry around the cuticle area since the burn today, would it be ok to use cuticle oil? im scared of it stinging! I did nip to pharmacist and they gave me acryflex and said leave it uncovered .
thanks all xx

Poor you...the last thing you need is acetone

Cuticle oil may help, I certainly don't think it would make it sting. Unlike acetone...I think I would here you scream up here in Scotland lol!!
I always use an Aloe Vera Gel if I get a burn or a scald and that stops it from even blistering.
Hopefully it will have settled down a bit by morning

Ouch! I agree with Izzidoll completely. I would suggest that you make sure the cuticle oil is only on the enhancement. My experience with oil on burns is that it tends to hold the heat in - causing the burn to get worse.

Hope it heals quickly!

I hope you heal soon. I'v always been told never ever put oil on or near a burn, not to apply creams unless the doctor/chemist has advised you to. Keep placing your hand in cold water to ease the sting, and apply Aloe Vera it works wonders.
Good Luck

Solar Oil is fab when used on burns, I've used it on myself when I've burnt myself in the kitchen and also on my hubby's arms when he's burnt himself after putting logs in the estufa.

The above quote and link was taken from a thread giving some of the benefits of Solar Oil, always worth having a bottle handy :green:

thanks all for your advice and your sympathy lol! I must learn to be more careful! X

You poor honey,:cry: i would soak the burnt areas in cool water only, this will stop the pain, bring out the burn, and ease it alot.

Nothing is good for burns at all. Once you keep soaking your hands in the cool water it will reduce the inflamations, and heal alot quickly.

Good luck.

a few drops of neat lavender oil will also help, apply every 2-3 hours. this will a) take down the swelling b) take away the pain c) heal a lot quicker.

You could actually use it at the same time as solar oil, apply the solar oil and add 1 drop of lavender oil directly onto the scald.

Lavender oil was first discovered for its healing and analgesic properties through a man in a lab, his hand was on fire and he doused it in a vat of lavender oil, he was so amazed by the results that he devoted the rest of his professional life to researching essential oils and wrote a book on it called Aromatherapie, thus giving us the terminology of Aromatherapy, his name was Gattefosse.

I know its a slightly older thread but with burns (as long as they arnt hospital worthy) after soaking in cold water for a while apply clear runny honey and wrap a gauze round it.
I did this when I spilt boiling oil over my arm and it healed double quick and with no scars, I also did it for a burn/massive blisters from a prescription cream, once the area was cooled down I added clear runny honey and they healed so quickly and with no scars at all.

Miracle Honey tbh.

This was my hand!! cant believe it was that long ago. It took quite a while to heal as it fully blistered in the end and am having to make sure it has sunblock on it as it turns pink in the sun really quick. Hopefully there wont be a next time but i will bear the honey in mind! Thanks everyone again for the advice!
