Hi all and Happy Valentines day! I want to purchase a make-up range to use on my clients and to sell in the salon. I am torn between MAC, John van G, and Bodyography. I know MAC is very good but has anyone tried the John van G or Bodyography make-up collections? Is it any good?

never heard of either, so its probable you're clients havent either which isnt good! I went with Art Decco, no min order and you can get a student kit which is very reasonable. Also, I discovered they now have a counter in Debenhams, which boosts the brand awareness.
Biography has a better set up online, I couldnt find any info on John Van G btw.

Hi,
I had JVG in my salon a few years ago...it wasn't great in my opinion. Low pigment in colours, quite old fashioned etc. Unless it's had a MAJOR revamp, I wouldn't bother. I have worked with several make up brands over the years and MAC is fab, also your clients will have heard of it and it will be easy to sell.
Hope this helps,
Sarah x

Tough choice!! In my opinion, Bodyography is the way to go. I'm a freelance makeup artist and I started using it about a year ago. It's fabulous, gives a truly flawless finish and has really true, strong pigments in all its colours, I do a lot of photographic work and it's perfect for that. It's also really affordable for some reason, which is great, and means the retail prices are better for your customers. They also have a partnering mineral range, Oxyplex, which is smaller but great to have on hand. I better stop, I'm raving! Any questions, just send me a message and I'll try to answer them! x

Hi are you still using Bodyography? I am just looking at getting it in and wondering if you are still happy with it.
Thanks

I've been using Bodyography for the last year or so & absolutely love it! I use it a lot for wedding make-ups & the feedback has been great (as has the follow-up retail sales!). The make-up lasts all day & the pigment is strong so you only need a little bit to get the desired colour; so there's no need to cake it on! I have clients who normally use MAC & they've been buying lipsticks, foundations & so forth from me, which goes to show the quality.
