hope this goes in the right place......my first post!

i have just had a lady in wanting to book an infill who has moved here from canada, however i am very concerned about the state of her nails, her natural nail plates have lifted on every nail so there is only 2mm of nail free fom lift at the matrix
now i dont know if this is coincidence but this is where the acrylic product is on the nails and the growth area is ok and attached. could this be an allergy to a product they have used, her nails have been doing this since she has had artificial nails put on?

im so confused and never seen this before!
any ideas??

I'm just learning at College to do Nail Extensions and the advice we've been given is, if you are not happy or comfortable with the state of their nails to put extensions on then don't do it.

Also, make sure you are insured!

I can't advise on the lifting as i'm only just learning.

The most common cause of Onycholysis (lifting of the nail plate from the bed) is trauma.

It is also associated with clients that have psoriasis.

Did she fill out a client card for you?... does she have psoriasis?

I wouldn't do her enhancements untill the nails reattach themselves, which can take a few months.

Advise your client to keep her natural nails short and tell her to use plenty of Solar oil and keep an eye out to make sure there are no colour changes.

She would be prone to getting a fungal or bacterial infection now

I've seen this personally from NSS shops using drills improperly.

My only advice... I personally wouldn't touch her nails without her signing a detailed waiver and some before photos. I'd suggest a gentle soak off system in a natural nail overlay and I'd keep the natural nails on the shorter end of things. Only a light buffs, no drills. Go with a gel colour to hide the damage and make her feel good about herself again.

Yes i've seen this too the people who usually do her nails were using cheap imported products. She had 2 missing and most of the nail plates had come away too. I really didn't want to do them as they always blame the last person to do them. Avised a soak of to check the remaining nails but she didn't want one so off she went.

I had a client with a nail piercing and the same thing had happened only on that nail.

Its caused by trauma, we removed the piercing and left the nail bare and hey presto the nail re attached itself, it doesnt look nice but it only took a month or two.

Advise her accordingly and if she wants to go against your advice she can either go somewhere else or prepare to rip her nails off :!: cos thats what will happen eventually.
