My salon is set withing a health club so we have no natural light, which isnt actually a problem...normally...but we have just taken on a make-up range and feel that this now may be. The lights in the rooms are usually set very dim however they do turn up to a reasonable brightness but we think this may not be enough for make up, could anyone suggest a way of combating this? I was thinking about getting a daylight lamp maybe, someone suggested using the light from the maglamp but surely that still wont be enough?

Many thanks

Can you hang something on the wall? as Ikea do some make up mirrors and lighting- moviestar type set up.

I will only do makeup trial/lessons in natural light as the results are never as good without it.

Is there any way of getting to natural light to test the shade for the foundation? Could you do makeup in the reception area? or I would look at daylight bulbs but their pretty expensive. .

Try making a make up area, you could do this with a shelf at waist height a mirror above and a tall chair so you don't hurt your back when applying the make-up to your client. I would also suggest lighting at the new makeup area using daylight bulbs (this is very important and can be a little expense but well worth it as clients wont complian of wrong colour foundations etc..) if you can't access natural daylight.

The shelf you can use to display your make up products when you are not using the area to do a make over as this way clients can see that you also do make up if they are unaware of this. Hope that helps!!
