Hi, over the past year I've noticed I'm nowhere near as busy as I was :( Ok we have a recession on our hands which doesn't help, but Reading through some posts on here about how busy some of you are, makes me wonder where I'm going wrong!

I have a website I'm really proud of, and I'm getting loads of hits a month. however, less than 1% of these hits are turning into bookings, and most of these bookings do not generate repeat custom for me. I have faith that I am a good therapist, the handful of loyal regulars I have aren't shy about telling me how happy they are! But it's so frustrating!!

I was toying with the idea of lowering my prices a little. Nothing drastic as I still have to earn something, but just enough to make a difference. What do you geeks think? It's my other half that is persuading me to think about it, I wasn't keen initially as I don't believe in selling yourself short, however I do think it's better to lower my prices and be earning something than to keep my prices where they are and be not getting anything out of it.

Is price adjustment the best way to go? Or does anyone have other ideas? Help! :)

Hi I would not say that your prices are expensive at all, maybe do a check on others prices in your area this way you will get a better idea. I think times are hard for lots of people at the moment with certain areas being hit harder than others though I feel the new year will start to improve.
Keep your chin up and maybe offer some deals on packages by advertising in local newspaper etc hth

I think your prices are fine too! Stick with it!

your site is lovely and the prices are fine.

I think your prices seem very reasonable & are no more expensive than mine, and I'm fairly local (Arundel). I used to work in a Worthing salon in the late 90's and it was always quite hard work even there to build a regular client base as everyone was always moving! I found it a lot easier & quicker in the outlying areas.

Some of us on here have been in the industry since year dot, so have had many years to build a clientele. I have been working in the same area for 15 years. In all probability you are reading "I'm so fully booked busy" posts from people like that.
The industry as a whole has suffered during this recession, and it has been going on far longer than they are letting on. Times are hard for all our clients and people use our services less frequently.
I'm a hair pro, and the most successful stylists who have worked for me over the years tend to be the sunny, fun people, not always the technically great hairdressers. For young stylists/therapists starting out, it is more difficult than ever to build up a client base as clients don't always tend to be as loyal these days. The only advice I can give you is to keep trying, and keep smiling. x

Thankyou everyone for your replies, I will have a think about my next move & see what I come up with! Happy new year!! Xxx

Hi, your site is very nice, very professional looking and your prices seem fine.

The one thing I would say (if I may) is that I don't feel your site tells me very much about 'you'. A mobile service is a very personal thing. Put yourself in the shoes of your client. They are inviting a stranger into their home. I would maybe like to see a photo of you and a little more personal info about you.

Your site is lovely and beautifully designed, don't get me wrong. I'm actually feeling it could be a little too well designed. The first impression I got was of corporate image and branding, it almost felt too big for a mobile service. I felt that I wouldn't want to trouble you with my little bit of waxing!

Hope this makes sense and you are not offended. I'm sure others may disagree but it was just my initial thought.

Joy xx

Actually just thought of a couple more bits, PM me xx

I think your site looks fab, although I couldn't read some of the testimonials quick enough as the scroll thing was going a bit too fast, and I'm a quick reader. And as said above by Jmel, I agree I personally wouldn't want to bother you for something basic like a bit of waxing atc as you sound like you're more used to doing corporate/tv etc. But don't lower, you end up doing more work for the same £ iykwim x

I wouldn't lower your prices at all, they are very reasonable.

I would see what other therapists in your area are charging!
I know that as I live in a small town my prices arent going to be like they would a city.
It could just be this time of year!
But why not do a course that no other competition has be good to offer something new maybe.
Try some advertising in your local paper

I wouldn't lower my prices as it is then very difficult to increase them in the future without some clients making a fuss. I would however do some special offers with say 25% off a first treatment, 10% off second treatment etc. Everybody loves a discount :)

Some people don't agree with offering discounts but at the end of the day Id rather knock some money off and get some clients in rather than sat round twiddling my thumbs.

Have you done much advertising ? If people don't know about you then they won't book you.
