I find it strange that your insurer does not require you to have any extra training for intimate waxing treatments ; not only does training cover the practical methods and techniques for carrying out these treatments but It also covers the way to deal with clients and being trained Im sure you would feel much more confident to be alone in a treatment room and how to deal with all the other aspects of the treatment as well as the practical side.

Sorry if I'm repeating what's been said as I've not read all the replies.

Regarding being safe and having two waxers in the room. I really don't like this kind of thinking. Your average client is a regular, decent man and I hate to see them portrayed as potential sex fiends or perverts.

You need to protect yourself of course, but not just because they are men. I think one should either not treat men at all, or go into it with positivity and full gusto. Learn to be confident and how to treat any difficult situation that may (but probably not) arise.

Well said Kim! Just because a man wants to take care of himself, doesn't mean to say that he expects some jollies as well!! It's very sad that the nasty men out there in the world are causing problems for the rest, it's stereotyping at it's worst!! There are just as many nasty women out there!!

I have done male waxing for a while now and had no problems with any of my clients, I did have a call from someone I wasnt comfortable treating as was discused in a previous thread.

I couldnt agree more that you should do training though, I trained with andy but have also done training with Kim. I have been waxing for a long time, but learnt so much training with them. Im suprised insurers dont ask for advanced training.

We don't just don't for our own safety we do it to help make the job quicker sometimes we have another therapist helping with women it was just some advice to give some pointers clearly I don't think all men are sex pests as I massage alone and do other waxing alone

Given the discomfort involved with intimate waxing, I'm not sure I'd welcome 2 therapists at a time!! Having just read all the posts, I agree with Kim, to have 2 therapists in the room when a client arrives send the message that you don't trust him. How would you feel if you were in that situation? Pretty uncomfortable I'm sure.

I would never be where I am today without all the extra training & if you have a certificate to do Intimate hair removal you will do well, see Andy at Axiom for training he is well established, known to all the bodies ie Habia, very supportive and his certificate will get you insurance, if you have not trained and something goes wrong! an insurance company can say " sorry, you are not insured!" best to be completely covered and have peace of mind then so will your clients , so few people are trained in this and the ones that are get the business and keep it!

Thanks, I already offer mens back/chest and brows too though I only have a handful of male clients they are repeat customers. I would need further training to offer male intimate and also speed waxing for men inc nostrils and ears
