Man wants grey highlights!

My client wants to have his hair salt and pepper..!
His hair is a base 6, and is quite warm. A few strands of grey round the temples.
He is going to get his hair cut very short on back and sides (number 2) and long on top, combed back. So not sure how to incorporate the colour..
Any ideas for this?
I don't think he wants a tint, as I explained that once we bleached and toned to a grey that it would be really high maintenance and he'd need to refresh every couple of weeks.
I'm mobile so can't ask colleagues, would appreciate advice! Thanks x

Could you not just ise a cap and pull lots of fine highlights through then bleach and tone it on the cap

Or u could use a fine comb and sort.of balayage pieces. Theres a video of this on youtube. If u type balayage highlights on very short hair u should find it x
