Morning Geeks,

As the title says, I really need ideas for manicures.

The reason for this is because I have decided to take pedicures off my price list as it just doesn't work in the salon I'm based in. Space is limited as I only have my desk in a hair salon, so I feel it's quite inappropriate for clients to get their feet out where I am.

So, I want to specialise in hand treatments only. I currently only offer a regular manicure (cuticle work, file, massage, polish) and a luxury manicure (all the above, plus hand mask and heated mitts). I really need ideas for more manicure treatments.

I'd really like to offer an anti-aging mani...but really don't know which products to go for?

I'm currently using CND and Cuccio (hand mask) for my manicures.

And I'd like to keep them as waterless as possible.

Xx

I love a paraffin wax mani.

Ah, I should've mentioned. My space is limited and so can't really do paraffin due to not having space to put the heater

Have you looked at IBX ? there is a huge thread on it on here and you could offer that as a stand alone treatment or with a mani after?

A lot of people have dull yellowish nails - would a "whitening" mani make a good option? x

Wow this has reminded me, a few years ago I used to offer a COLD paraffin wax treatment, which was really popular and obviously no fuss at all - you applied it with a spatula, wrap hands, into heated mitts etc ... just a thought. Can't for the life of me remember which product line I used, will think on it

Yes, this is on the list of ideas! I'm getting this at Pro Beauty! And will definitely use it as a stand alone x

This sounds really good! And not as messy as hot paraffin? Do you know of any reputable brands that do it now?

Come on Blossom's brain...please think ;) x

Hi Mummycat x with regard to your existing luxury manicure, maybe add a hot oil cuticle treatment and then a mini scalp massage whilst the hand mask is on? Do you use an exfoliant in the service? If not, you could exfoliate arms and hands with exfoliating gloves or try dry brushing (I'm suggesting to exfoliate this way as you mention you want to keep it as waterless as possible and it's not as messy as a scrub and the rinsing afterward).

With regard to additional treatments, Hive offer paraffin cartridges to use in a wax roller cartridge heater if you have one. They come with a spray head attachment to apply the paraffin wax once they've been heated. I'm not sure if this is useful to you as it would cut out the need for a separate heater for the paraffin wax and save on space.

Have you considered IBX Restore and Repair as it's proving to be a popular new treatment, and as C the Results has said, there are threads on here about where you can buy it, how to use it, and also before and after photos.

Young Nails offer a waterless anti-oxidant manicure system called Lomasi but I've not used it - maybe another geek who uses it can advise you better about it.

I hope these links work and are of use to you x

Yes Hive do paraffin wax in cartridges, so less mess and less space needed as the machine used to heat the cartridge up are smaller than a traditional paraffin wax heater. Jessica do an anti ageing range called La Remedi, lovely products. Definitely add exfoliation in to Luxury treatment or perhaps an AHA treatment for pigmentation.

Hi ya,

I might give a scrub a go. A friend of mine gave me a recipe for a homemade scrub, which you can almost use dry as it just contains a small amount of carrier oil and aromatherapy oils. All you do is apply, gently rub into hands and arms...and the excess falls into the couch roll on desk to dispose of.

IBX is up there with the list so far...I'm buying it at PB next week.

I think warm paraffin wax might be an issue...due to the mess, but I shall look into it.

Off to young nails to have a little look at lomasi!

Thank you for your ideas! Xx

Thanks for that...I know Jessica do a full on mani course with a great range of products...I might look into doing one of their mani courses. Have you done it? Do they do an in depth hand massage? Xx

Hot oil manicures? One of our most popular and very little waste as you use the oil the nails are soaked in to massage too xxxx

I have paraffin questions... Do you do exfoliation with paraffin treatment!? And do ye do paraffin at the start or end of mani/pedi? (I was taught to do paraffin before cuticle work and I see some on here doing it at the end so im curious) :)

You can try creating some seasonal / themed Manis make the pampering experience more so like this get there senses and sights going by mixing mani products and using a ritual try with "props"

I used to have a wedding / celebration one , and on my tray I had pearls and gems , I used the champagne sensation lotion , oh I wish they would bring that back !

You could probably do a birthday cake one with vanilla and a strawberry one , is there a strawberry ? Maybe not ,

We did have a thread going with lots of ideas for you
