I'm performing a facial at college i was told not to use a massage oil on blemished/congested skin...as their skin produces too much sebum as it is...however i was recently told by someone elso that i should use a massage oil as opposed to a massage cream!?! which is right? please help!!:) Thank you xx

It totally depends on the range you are using.

Most ranges will have a different oil or cream for dry/oily/sensitive skin etc.

If you were to start massaging a rich, heavy oil into an oily skin then it would not be beneficial but if you used a custom blended oil specifically for oily/acneous skin then that would be beneficial.

The problem is when a college is wrong (which they quite often are!) you are stuck as the information they are giving is the information they want back in the exam papers.

Also you can use a cream if it is oil free, or purposely designed for oily skin.

What range are you using at college?

Indeed, I hear a lot of amusing things from work experience girls about what they have been told at college. The trouble is a lot of college courses are way behind the times in what happens in the industry & a lot of college tutors go straight from courses into teaching & have absolutely no salon experience, hence this kind of misinformation.
