Ok, i'm in at the deep end here! I'v been pushing spraytans with my customers today and have a girl that really would love to have spray tans but she has melanin deficiency quite badly, big patches all over her body. What would happen if I sprayed tanned her? Would these areas tan or would it make her condition look worse with big white patches all over?

The areas would tan but they would be lighter than the rest of the tan,
it does make it slightly less noticeable for them as its no longer bright white,
hth

Thanks Louise,

She is going to a wedding in a couple of weeks time and would like to try one - wondering if I should go over and spray one of her arms (she has one which is particularly bad) and see what the result is (get her to oil it straight off) ?? How would you play this? Her whole family is the same and all would love some 'decent' colour

I think this is a very good idea, she can see how it develops, lasts and fades of before the big day.
One for Louise, what % would you use and why?

hi

i think a test area would be good idea

a lady seen the results of two of my tans last week and she's worried about tanning as she has some stretch marks on the back of her legs. i told her to pop over and i'll spray that bit to see how it takes. all going well she'll come back for the full body.

I'm sure i'd need to use something light?, her hair is very noticeable - especially at the front so wouldn't want her to have an overkill on her face........

God, this is good training! lol

You can use a bronzer only tan so that she looks brown for the day without relying on being patchy or not with a DHA based solution.

I have a few girls with vitiligo and its the only thing I can use.

I'm here lol,
i would not go any higher than an 8% with my solutions,
i have a client with vitiligo and her natural skin is very dark but the affected areas are bright white,
i spray her with 8%, it makes hardly any difference to the normal areas of skin but blends in the white area quite nicely,
so even though she doesn't look like she has been to the med for 2 weeks she does look a more evened skin tone,

Frankey has said this client is pale so i would first try the 5% and see how this looks then if the client wanted i would try the 8%,

its more a case of trying to blend the skin tones for them rather than achieving an all over tan, hth

Thanks for your help louise,

I'll give it a try next week,

Nicola

hiya.

if you just applied tan on the white patches and left them to develop ( min 8 hours) then got her to come in the next day and sprayed her all over, this would help to disguse vitiligo. even though she does not have any melanin in those areas, most tans have a vegatable dye in the guide colour, it would be that which would stain the vitiligo.

try it on a hidden area first so that you are confident with it.

fabulous! Someone mentioned something very similar to me today actually so I will definately try this.

Had another call today from someone else with vitiligo so if i can get to grips with it i might be on a winner!

Thanks for your help

Its also a good trick to use if you get a bride coming in with strap marks. Which won't look good with her dress!! Xx
