hi there

i was at a clients about a hour ago doing a spraytan and she has just told me that she has ordered these injections with her boss in the salon she works in..

i was going to buy these a few months back but my friend was really sick and unwell on them but they seem so good.. my mum has said not to get them cause they havnt been tested to make sure they dont attack you fertility etc. i am in 2 minds about this..

does anyone know about the side affects of not being able to have children or getting skin cancer or anything??

xxx

Hello Nicole,

There are a number of issues when one is considering using an unlicensed and unregulated drug. Don't discount what your peers and family tell you.

There is an extensive Salon Geek thread I would recommend you read (if you have not already done so) here:

Discussion about the two melanotan peptides

It covers most of the caveats that folks should be bearing in mind relative to these two drugs and the inherent risks in using them in their current regulatory state.

Cheers,

thanks i have already read this but what i am wondering is if it can affect you having kids and if it can increase cancer in your system? i think this soounds good annd i want to try it but i am unsure of they two things.. can anyone give me a little bit of help please xxx

im not sure whatt the injections were called, but my friend had one or 2 and looked like a chesterfield sofa lol.... and ive seen a few others. yeewww .. i dont know if they tan depending on melanin ... but give me a spray tan any day.... x

Nicole,

I would advise you to hold off on trying to gain pigmentation this way. Melanotan-1 (under the generic name "afamelanotide") is currently undergoing last phase (III) human clinical trials as a dissolving controlled release subcutaneous implant for therapeutic usage for folks who suffer EPP and PLE. It would appear that melanotan-1 ("afamelanotide") will become available as a licensed and regulated medicine sometime in the next 12 months. There is a chance that 'off label' usage of it will become an option. Usage of this doctor administered form of the drug is generally going to be a safer option when and if it becomes available to the general public.
