I was told to take mine through the day so I have one with breakfast, one with lunch and one with dinner. I was also told that it increases your appetite! I could sleep anywhere at the moment, literally!
Oh right ok I take mine in evening. That's how I feel with sleep too, not good when driving.

I was told yesterday in A&E that paracetamol or nurofen will work but they don't even come close to touching it, she did say codeine would work, so if I get nowhere with the docs I will have to try that? X

I really feel for you Hun, I've suffered with migraines for years. Codeine doesn't touch it for me either. I've been prescribed sumatriptan to take and it's worked wonders for me. Look it up and maybe ask your doctor if it's something that is suitable for you to try. Another option is Botox for migraines. I've not tried it myself but heard it works, it's just expensive as you'll need to have it every 3-4 months.
I hope you find a solution and get your migraines under control X

This may not be your cup of tea but apparently the "daith" piercing in your ear (not sure what side though) helps stop's migraines!
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it either sorry :)
nothing worse than migraines I get them a lot due to having meares irlen syndrom!
Courts xx

I had my daith pierced last December. Hasn't made a single bit of difference! The lady who pierced it said it works about half the time.. So could still be worth a try

Sumatriptan is great just wish I could take more than 3 in 24 hours sometimes as its not enough when really bad. I couldn't have codeine it just made migraines worse.

I didn't think the piercing would work, my kept saying surly it's worth the £20 it costs to have it done just to try it. But I kept saying doubt it will.

update. Been taking the Co Enzyme Q10 for two weeks now and no migraine. I usually get them every week.

I'm really suffering this week. I'm 39 weeks pregnant and can't get out of bed by head is in so much pain. And I can only take the lowest dose of cocodamol which isn't doing anything at all.

Are there any natural ways or things you've done that have helped for migraines? I'll try anything right now [emoji24][emoji30]
Im dreading feeling like this and going into labour. x

Oh Hun that's awful!
Ok so what you can try is to put your hands and feet in hot water (don't burn yourself but as hot as you can comfortably stand) and an ice pack on the back of your neck. It's a bit of an awkward one to do, but if nothing else is helping!

I'm sure you already have but have you been checked for preeclampsia? Headache can be one of the symptoms. X

Thanks, I'm going to try it now! It's bareable this morning but it gets worse as the day goes on [emoji17]
Im going to try sitting on the side of the bath with some frozen peas on my neck. I've had to improvise lol but I'll literally try anything at this point. x

I've had migraines pretty much the whole way through my pregnancy on and off with high blood pressure again on and off and I really had to pressure my midwife into looking into it more as that's what I thought it could be.
The only symptom I don't have is swelling.
But they said I don't have it and to just take paracetamol for the pain [emoji19] x

Have you tried different brands? There are quite a few triptan based drugs. I was originally prescribed immigran but hated the side effects so have tried others since and some are noticeably better for me. I find Zomig and Almagran work well and read good reviews about Maxalt, but that's not currently available in Ireland, sadly.

I think Zomig is the next one dr going to try with me. I just wish the preventers would work so didn't need to worry about pain relief. Migraines are such a horrid thing and hate being a sufferer of them

I have to pay for prescriptions over here and a prescription for 8 Almagran tablets cost me €55 plus €50 for a six month prescription from the GP.

I know the Zomig were a bit cheaper to buy and that some GP's in the UK on tight budgets will prescribe you the cheapest option so, as you're paying peanuts in comparison over there, definitely ask to try out several brands as I found they vary quite a bit in terms of being effective for me (including side effects).

Yes I remember my friend from over there said how much it cost etc. Expensive game, they keep going up and up here but not that much. Yes my GP keeps trying different brands and that and different types of preventer like gone down beta blocker route before and highest dosage didn't work. My mum wishes they would refer me to a neurologist but they won't, she said there gotta be some underlying problem to migraines but who knows.

Have you tried acupuncture? I only ask as I'm an acupuncturist and I treat loads of people with migraines! Make sure you see a 'proper' acupuncturist ) trained in Chinese medicine.. not a physio that does ' a bit of needling' on the side.

I'm honestly at my wits end with my doctors hun, there just not listening to me n it took me to go to A&E which isn't quite right I don't think lol

Also the coil isn't something i don't feel safe about as it can get infected sometimes I know it probably won't with me but it still worries me x
Iv also suffered severe nice I was 9 with migraines and I'm now 30. I am on Cerazette (mini pill) and I'm also on Propanalol (beta blockers) which help. My dr also prescribed me with Sumatriptan which is a preventative and then when I do get one I'm soooo sick with them so I also have anti sickness meads too.
Iv had a full in depth eye test done by a specialist to check everything there and I've had. MRI scan done. And nothing. Just is what it is and just gotta try and manage them.
But go to ur Drs armed with info and demand something be done.
It effects you work and social life so much, u need some help. Good luck

I wish I could be sorted like you. I'm on cerazette also and they tried me on highest dosage of propanalol and it don't work but also on sumatriptan as preventer. Reading threads on here about them helps as makes me realise I'm not only one out there suffering

I've just bought some migrasticks online. It's a small roll on that contains just natural (herbal) ingredients and it provides cooling relief if you roll it across your forehead.

I tried it this morning in conjunction with paracetamol and it's worked! Stopped it developing into a stinker.
