hi i have just done my first set of minx on a member of my family and havin trouble already. I used cuticle away and removed non living tissue from every nail, filed nails and used scrubfresh. I measured the minx to the nail and heated until it went floppy, lined up on nail and smoothed down with my thumb then went over with hoof. Then filed minx with the glass minx file in one direction towards the middle of the nail trying to 'tuck' the edges under. Anyway about 1 hour after i applied my family member had a bath and two lifted off and some others edges had started lifting. Do i need more heat or was it the bath straight after?

I file in a north-south direction not side to side.

hi i do that with the bit left in the middle, i get rid of the edges first with filing from side to middle then with the bit still attached at middle do north to south.

I file this way accross the whole free edge. That's the way I was shown at the Fingertips Centre.

oh right, thank you for your help! sarah x x

i havnt used minx yet except in my training but arnt you supposed to keep under the heat why your smoothing it out and filing off the excess?

Give it a try next time. File in one direction only. Top to bottom. Have a look in th Minx group. Geeg has a video tutorial. You just have to give her your full name and email and she'll send it over to you.

I move my lamp when filing off the excess. You want it hot while fitting but cold for filling. Hot again for smoothing out with hoof stick.

hiya the vid is great geeg has.. i followet it to tht T !! but my finger minX still shrink back... i dont pull the film to hard either . any ideas , and i file north to south.... feet minx are perfect.... ive only had 1 lady had fingers on for 3 weeks !!!! she lives in spain and nails are hard and strong and quite thick. :D .

Hi .. I've sent on the video so I hope it helps.

Some things you will observe when you watch it is that the Minx are neither overly HOT nor overly stretched!! Minx don't have to be floppy but they do need to be bendy and pliable. Neither are the Minx tucked right under the nails before filing just gently folded over.

The question of the Minx lifting was I think what your original post asked and no one has addressed that issue at all in their answers!!

I always do a DRY prep before applying Minx. I 'feel' that your problem may have been the nails not being completely dry in the nail folds along the edges before you applied the Minx. Or perhaps the clients hands were sweating a bit under the heat? Just don't be too extreme in anything you do.

Regarding hands and fingernails .. Minx will last as long as your clients take care to look after them and stop 'feeling' them all the time.

Sorry if I am being really thick, but.....

a) I can't find this video - where is it?

b) I am also wondering how you are all managing to use your lamps attached to your nail desks for toes.

c) Is there any health risk associated with exposure to infrared light?

Scrubfresh wont remove the cuticle away, you need to take this off with some water and hand wash or it can remain there and interfere with the minx sticking

a) there is a thread in the Minx lovers group. Geeg was sending people the video but I think she was paying for a hosting site and think the time has run out now.

b) I have the infrared lamp Sweet Squared sell. It has a long arm with a bend in it so no problem for toes.

c) I don't. Think there are any health risks but I'm not a health professional. People use infrared lights for massage and you get an infrared sauna that people sit in for a while so I doubt there any health risks.

i recon it was the bath straight after u should give them at leaste 3-4 hours to bond to the nail plate as heat shrinks them so with them shrinking it has aloud water to penetrate underneith the minx causing it to lift xxx
