Hi their,

Im just setting up my Mobile Beauty business and have come across a few hurdles if you like only because their is so much choice out their!
Im wanting to do Spray Tanning but do not know which product to go with and also hurd that the 'pigs' arnt up to much so wanted the next machine after that? I currently do Fake Bake origonal application but obviously want to cover a range of services.
I also still have not decided a skin care product to go with. I love Dermalogica and trained with it but iv hurd you need to put £2000 upfront for the range and i just have not got that kind of money.
Im also wanting to do a nail course, i have covered manicures and pedicures at college but i want to give people what they want eg Acrylic's, gel etc but will need to do a fast track course to fit around my work commitments and looking after my daughter.
I also LOVE the look of Priadara Chocobeauty Swiss - ellisons but its £300 for the kit so would like to know what other therapists think of this kit is it any good? worth the money etc?
Im also still needing to purchase a uniform, eye lash perming kit, face steamer, towels and couch covers, folding stool, and more hopi ear candles(currently getting them for £7.50 but hurd that is over priced) if anyone knows any good prices and places to get them please let me know.

Really sorry for the long post but i have just got my grant so wanting to do it all properly and get the products that people what in order to get the clients in!

Thanks again kymm x

Hi
Just saw your post and its similar to my setting up queries really. But wanted to know about your grant, how did you get one cos I can find plenty of loans available but not much in the way of setting up grants. Sorry it doesn't help much with your other questions.

xx

Hi Wendy,

I went through Princes Trust for my Grant and they were fantastic!

Got about £400 as a grant and the rest about £1600 as a loan to pay back but with great rates! Would really recomend them!

Hope this helps you!

By the way what have you done so far? what have you bought and where from just for tips thanks kim x

For spray tanning you could have a look at Wow factor/Tantricks start a business set up Rental i think it looks really good for someone like yourself they are very helpful and have a very good reputation im not entirely sure of all the ins and outs of it but im sure if you ring them they will explain it all to you.
What i would say is spend wisely, research your products well.Expensive isn't always the best but cheap can leave you spending more in the long run.
Also don't forget as well as products you need to budget for the business side of things like good insurance, keeping accounts, advertising, national insurance contributions etc.
Also don't try and do too much at first,it may be better to have a core range of treatments and then add a few more treatments as you get more clients otherwise you are going to have lots of stock hanging around not doing much.

Haven't really got much except for the leftovers from Level 2 and 3. The plan is to start after Christmas because I've got a 3 month old baby and hubby is also giving up his job to retrain in a different career. Am going to look at Minx nails and possibly Xen Tan because I love these products myself. Its very exciting but a bit daunting. Its so helpful to have these boards, but it makes me realise I've still got such a lot to learn!

Hi hun.............y dont u register with some whole salers for example Ellisdons as long as u have a valid insurance cert they will take u on they do tint starter kits..... With regards to the skincare check out Welcome to party on (Europe) ltd or On Group | Proto-col | Pure | Naturally advanced skincare they are brilliant u will b able to see the retail prices but if your interested in te skincare PM me i can give u trade prices trade prices and mark ups as you can earn quite abit .. theres no minimum order either there are great rewards and you can get your money back so quick xxxx

Hi and firstly congrats on your new venture into mobile,

As far as skin care goes, I understand that ranges like Dermalogica are unavailable to mobile and the high quality ones that are ask for a huge minimum order but I would personally also stay away from just any old cheap product from the wholesaler. I know there are a few good ranges that cater to mobile. I know that many of the girls here use the Eve Taylor range of products and if I remember correctly they either have a low or no minimum order value. It will take a bit of researching and getting some samples from different companies but good research will always pay dividends in the end.

If you aready have the qualifications for manicure and pedicure then I wouldnt worry about needing 'fast track' courses in acrylic nails. Its not an easy thing to learn so I would start offering your manicures and pedicures now and get some money rolling in from those while starting a course in Acrylics. Even the quick courses will require that you have a lot of practice afterwards before you can work effectively on a client. You can always mention to your clients that you are currently taking training in this, then they know that it will be offered at some point and you may find that your customers enthusiasm for you doing the course spurs you on to practice as much as possible so that you can start offering it.

As far as your uniform goes now seems to be a good time to buy, I dont know about everyone else but I get emails almost daily from uniform companies offering discounts just now.

Maybe looks at salonweardirect.com uniformcollection.com or buttercupsuniforms.com for a start and have a compare of styles and prices.

If you need to save some pennies in the beginning it can be an idea to just get the uniform tunic from a salon uniform please and then buy some black trousers from a cheaper store as uniform trousers can add on to the bill a bit when pennies are tight.

Hope you have fun picking all your new ranges

Thanks very much for all the advice really helpful!!!

Went onto the Eve Taylor website but when i tried to register for trade they asked for a Trade Association Membership???

I dont think i have one of these as of yet as i am still searching for a decent insurance company to go with.
Also i have registered with Professional Beauty but just for the magazine subscription so im not sure if that means i am already part of the professional beauty membership on the website.

All im wanting is to be registered with these websites (professional beauty &
BABTAC) so i can have the recognised logo on my leaflets and also be able to purchase products at trade prices.

Also any tips for insurance companies??? i want it to cover my equipment and stock aswell as everything else.

Thanks again kymm x
