Hi All

I just wanted your opinion please, I do lots of mobile waxing eyebrow and facial waxing being my biggest seller. I am mobile and take my couch with me which is quite big as it,s my massage couch. I went along to one of these networking lunches and was lucky enough to speak to another beauty therapist. She said that for facial waxing and bikini lines she just uses a reclining garden chair. Now im not sure if this is a good idea or not ? but it could make my life a bit easier, what are your thoughts please or what do you use ?

I don't do mobile but i do have garden chairs!
I can see one main problem with this-your back!
Chairs are made to sit on so will not be at the correct height.
You'd have to be on your knees doing a bikini wax

Yes you have a good point, I had not thought about the height. I thought it may not be very comfy for the client and I also thought it may not look very professional. I think buying a lighter couch is the answer.

With garden chairs also, they aren't built to take constant use.
I use a La fuma reflexology reclining chair which to be fair looks a bit like a garden chair but its got very strong springs and is cushioned so i just take this along for facial waxing and lash extensions as it comes with a bag and is very light, but there's not enough room for the client if you're doing a bikini wax so i think you may be best getting a lighter couch xXx

Is this the chair you use for eyelash extensions?

It looks really light. Does your client lie back but not flat. Are the comfortable sitting for 2 hours for extensions? Is it quite comfortable for you doing the lash extensions?

Sorry to hijack with so many questions but I really like the look of this chair for eye treatments. I bought a second hand mobile couch and while it's not too heavy, it's not light.

Hi TweezerHappy,
yes that's the one i've got, sorry it's not semi permanent lash extensions i do so they're not in it for that long, however i wax a lady's legs who is disabled so cant get up on to a couch and she always comments on how comfy it is.
For eye treatments i have them slightly reclined, the chair seems to sit in any position quite firmly ie - you dont need to have it fully reclined or fully upright.
It comes with a headrest but i take a pillow for the legs too as depending on how tall the client is their legs rest on the bar at the bottom so not too comfy if in it for a while...
I use this all the time it's one of the best buys i've got!
Also, you can clip on a light at the side if you need to use one...xXx

Do you think it would be alright for lash extensions lasting 2 hours?

Yes deffo, the way the chair is made is designed so they're not necessarily flat on their back and so they are supported in all the right places. The chair feels a bit like a hammock because of the springs and so is very relaxing. Bear in mind it's a reflexology chair so I have my reflex clients on there for just over an hour and practically have to wake them up at the end!! As i said before just make it as comfy as possible with extra pillows and what have you...xXx

I'm definitely going to have a serious think about that. I'll have to think about the clients head height and angle as I'll be sitting behind them.

Thanks for the help.

I have completely ruined my back due to lugging that blinking couch about. It has caused me to twist my bone!
I'm not using it anymore. I know it doesn't look professional but i'm not going to break myself. I wouldn't do treatments on a chair though. It would be better to wax on your clients bed. My clients are fine with this and although people say it's not good for your posture ...it is far better than breaking your back on that couch!
