Hi. We had a girl In on friday, got eyelashes permed and tinted. At the time she said she felt they weren't very curly, i hadn't seen her as she came In but they looked like a natural curl to me. Told her to call back after the weekend if she was still unhappy. Well she just called saying she didnt think they were curly at all and that even the tint hadn't taken as well as usual. Does anyone have Any thoughts on this? Its brand new perm stuff, i'm just thinking could her lashes be resistant? Hence the tint not taking too well? My beauty therapist used medium rollers as her lashes were average length x

Hi

If they were curly and tinted after the treatment then it can only be the aftercare not being followed by the client. I always give the following aftercare for a lash perm:

don't get the lashes wet for 24 hours and after that avoid hot water
don't press the lashes down when cleansing the eyes
no makeup on the eyes for 24 hours
no swimming, sunbeds, sauna or steam room for 24 hours

If this advice WAS given then maybe she didn't follow it and remember she may not own up to this!

Tbh i saw her lashes before she left, they weren't so much curly as they were bent up if you know what i mean? Looked very natural, my therapist said they had been v straight before. I didnt pay much attention to her tint as she never said she was unhappy with this. Just that she thought they would be curlier. She was given aftercare. Will get her back In this week and retint and then leave another week or two for reperm, does that sound ok?just concerned that it won't ever turn out what she is expecting?x

There may have been some kind of barrier on her lashes which would explain why both the tint and the perm didnt take as well as expected? x

Hi someone correct me if we have been taught wrong just we have completed our eye treatments part of the NVQ 2 in Beauty Therapy and we were told not to tint straight after the perm as it would make it drop faster as why you cant have your hair permed at the same time as coloured hth x

Hi

some brands are fine to tint straight after, you just need to check the manufacturer's instructions.

were her lashes cleaned with non oily makeup remover and then dried with a tissue first? were the timings accurate?

the only time i've had trouble was perming the lashes of a half chinese client as they were so straight they only lifted slightly and wouldn't curl.

All you can do is try again. If you follow all the instructions properly, she follows all the aftercare and there's still a problem then maybe she really has got resistant lashes.

if both treatments didn't take maybe there was oil on the lash prior to the treatment, were the lashes cleaned using an oil-free make-up remover??

I was taught not to tint and perm on the same day, but realise this just doesn't work in the real world, and i have done both together.

Was the perm done first, if not it can strip the tint.

Yes they were cleaned first and then Permed first yes. Well the girl will come back on thursday and we will see...thanks for all the comments xx
