Morphine and microdermabrasion

Can anyone tell me if taking morphine is a contraindication with microdermabrasion?
The lady is taking it for backache. I can't see that it is but wanted to double check!

doesn't morphine work by suppressing nerve responses?
If so, and it causes lack of sensation in the tissues then yes it is a contraindication. Also, how will the vacuum suction in the machine react with the morphine? Will moving it towards the lymph nodes in the face have an adverse reaction? Does morphine affect the condition of the skin over long term useage?

Unfortunately I don't know enough about morphine to be able to answer these effectively for you but I suspect a word with the doctor might be in order, just in case.

Hi there, it isn't a contraindication per se but if you wanted to cover yourself you might want to have your client's doctor sanction it first.

If the client is taking morphine for for backache, then there is no reason why this would contraindicate a microdermabrasion facial. Morphine is used for severe pain, more deep seated and intense pain and in terminal illnesses, so I would be more concerned as to why your client needs the Morphine ie. what is causing the backpain and will your client be comfortable lying on her back on the couch??

If you perform your sensitivity tests for facial treatments as per your training, then there should be no reason why your client should not have a microdermabrasion facial if she passes the test.

Morphine in itself would not contradict a facial. I would look more at the reason for taking the morphine.
