I couldn't get my first set pics to post, so I'll try this one! I just did these tonight, and the client is a severe nail biter. This is only the second set I have ever done, but practice makes perfect, right!?

Hiyah hun
Are these tips or sculpts?
Considering that its your 2nd set and the fact that you worked on a severe nail biter I dont think these look too bad, however, you have asked for a critique so here goes, I think that the sidewalls could do with taking in a bit as they are a bit hippy iykwim, and also if you use less white then this would make the nails look balanced, also extending the nail bed would make them look much sleeker, I do love your nail art on the thumbs, I would like to comment on the apex but from the picture I cannot see, are you able to post a side view for us to look at??

Well done hun for posting
Sue :) xx

Hi Sue!

Thanks for your comments...I agree, they are a bit hippy - I'll make sure to keep an eye on that in the future. These are sculpts, and between very short nail beds (due to the nailbiting) and a totally straight line where a natural smile line would be, I found it hard to take the white gel down any lower in the smile, forcing more of a grimace than a smile line lol!

I don't have any side view pics, but I'll be sure to take pics from different angles from now on.

I really appreciate your opinion...thanks again!

I pretty much agree with everything thats been said. I would just have made the free edge shorter, less white would have made them more balanced.

I didn't look what system you use but having just discovered coverage gel and powders myself I'd give that a go when you feel able, it changes everything so dramatically xx

Thanks again for the replies...here is a set I did this morning - less hippy for sure, alot more balanced I think...I am absolutely tickled pink about these ones...very proud of myself! Please feel free to comment on these as well.

They are more balanced for the ratio of pink to white and look to have straighter sidewalls

It could just be the angle but they look flat in terms of an apex or c curve and seem to slope up towards the free edge.

You'll get the best comments if you post pictures from the top, the side and a barrel shot of the ends of the nails. xx

I think for that being your second set AND being a nail biter, well done!! Good on ya for taking the challenge!

I do agree with the comments about taking your sidewalls in a bit and refining the shape of the free-edge.

Just a tip what I do with bad nail biters - I always recommend to my clients to do the first set using a natural tip with a clear overlay and maybe use an opalescent top gloss or even a color gel to hide the fact that their nail beds are really short. Then, by the time they come for their first fill, watch how much their nail beds grow...it's incredible! By that time, they're ready for a french and it looks way more balanced than doing it the first time around.

Or, I will use a coverage pink and extend the nail bed if they insist on going french.

Keep up the good work!!
