Ive been wanting make over a biter for awhile and finally Ive found a client whos willing to be the guinea pig.

What is the best method??? I really like the idea of using tips that i dont have to blend and elongating the nail bed. I saw a picture in the gallery where just the corners of the tip were glued to the side of the nail and then the bed was elongated. I was going to lean towards that method but really am not sure:eek::eek::eek:

Personally, I prefer to use tips that have a well so that I can tailor them to fit perfectly, not only at the well but also at the sides by 'saddling' the tip to fit over the bulbous skin (if your client is a bad biter that is). You can then 'float' your smile in the best place and then use opaque powder to disguise the short nail bed and give the illusion of not only longer nail beds but also longer fingers.

Here's a tutorial link that should help you - http://www.salongeek.com/nail-application/5746-tipping-bitten-nail.html

you could sculpt as well, and extend the nailbed with a custom blend or coverage pink?? good luck x

I sculpt almost all the time but not sure how I. Would sculpt a biter?? Also with tips that have wells wouldn't they ping off easier??

Forgive me if I sound dumb I'm really not used to tipping and have never done a biter

I also sculpt more than tipping, I tend to tip on myself more than clients, however I always tip nail biters.

When you tip a biter you saddle the tip (as in the tutorial I linked in my previous post), you cut out a small curve in the side of the tip so that it fits comfortably over the bulbous skin where the nail would be if the client wasn't a biter, this prevents pressure being put on the tip and you don't get any pinging :wink2:

Thank you:hug:

Dont quite understand how to saddle the tip:eek: Am I cutting the centre of the tip???

Not the centre of the tip, you use curved scissors and remove a tiny bit from the each side of the tip, just below the well, this ensures a comfortable fit over the bulbous skin and prevents pressure, ensuring the tip stays adhered.

The following thread shows a pic I did of a tip with the area you remove shaded out with a felt tip pen: http://www.salongeek.com/nail-geek/26890-saddling-tip.html

Hope that helps
